2015 NFC East Division Preview – NFL Handicapping Odds

Handicapping the NFC East

With Organized Team Activities (OTAs) kicking off this week for NFL teams, football fans are already starting to get the itch. The 2015 season should be a fascinating one from a parity standpoint, especially with the New England Patriots likely coming back to Earth some, with the loss of Darrelle Revis and Tom Brady’s suspension.

2015 NFC North Division Preview – NFL Handicapping Odds

Handicapping The NFC North

The story of the NFC North of late is Green Bay and everybody else. The Packers are the lone constant and the Bears swap coaches when they really swap quarterback’ the Vikings don’t know what’s going to happen with their best player – Adrian Peterson; and the Lions seem to never be able to get out of their own way.

2015 AFC East Division Preview – NFL Handicapping Odds

Handicapping the AFC East

Now that the draft if behind us training camp is just around the corner. It might have been a while but I think the AFC East can make a case for being the toughest division in football. They have the defending champion New England Patriots, much improved teams in New York and Buffalo, and Miami looks like a .500 outfit at least.

2015 NFL Football – Broncos Analysis

The Denver Broncos window for another championship is quickly closing as evidenced by 39-year old Peyton Manning’s issues late last season. Manning will be healthy and motivated heading into 2015 however with a typically stacked roster that appears build to win another AFC West crown.

2015 Kansas City Chiefs Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

2015 NFL Football – Chiefs Analysis

The Kansas City Chiefs return to the field September 13 looking to improve upon a nine win season last year. The Chiefs did address a huge area of need in free agency – the team failed to complete a TD pass to a Wide Receiver last year – amazing but they did add Jeremy Maclin to hopefully put an end to that troubling stat.

2015 Atlanta Falcons Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

2015 NFL Football – Falcons Analysis

The Atlanta Falcons begin play in the most wide-open division in football September 14 with typically huge expectations. New Head Coach Dan Quinn has been tasked with turning around one of the worst defenses in the game – his work in Seattle cannot be overstated.

2015 New Orleans Saints Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

2015 NFL Football – Saints Analysis

The New Orleans Saints will be out to rebound from a disastrous 7-9 season a year ago when they begin their quest back to legitimacy September 13 in Arizona. New Orleans traded away arguably their most dangerous weapon in the offseason – Jimmy Graham went to Seattle while stud Center Max Unger came the other way – the team also let Kenny Stills get away!

2015 NFL Football – Buccaneers Analysis

The Jameis Winston era begins in Tampa Bay this season – exciting indeed. There will be plenty of attention on the team for sure but will all of the hype lead to wins? Tampa will still have a decent defense – Gerald McCoy and linebacker Lavonte David are a pretty good nucleus.

2015 NFL Football – Panthers Analysis

The Carolina Panthers will go for a third straight NFC South crown in 2015 with largely the same lineup that did some good thing last year. They added a much-needed receiver in the draft and will go into the season with a defense that once again made some noise in 2014.

2015 St. Louis Rams Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

2015 NFL Football – Rams Analysis

The St. Louis Rams enter the 2015 season with typical hype but a typically sketchy roster full of question marks.

How will Nick Foles work out? How will first round pick Todd Gurley fare as the first top 10 RB taken in the draft in what seems like a generation?

Rams Odds

St. Louis Rams
2015 St. Louis Rams Odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl: 40/1
2015 St. Louis Rams Odds to win the 2015 NFC Conference: 20/1
2015 Season Win Total: Rams 7.5 wins (OVER -110, UNDER -120); 2014 wins: 6
***2015 BONUSES***

Vegas isn’t convinced that the Rams have turned the corner – I am not sure either.

St. Louis should be a competitive team in 2015 but in the tough NFC West competitive may not get it done.

Let’s look at every game on the schedule and see if the Rams can surpass the 7.5 wins that Vergas has set out for them.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 13, vs. Seattle, 1 p.m. ET

Ugh – the Rams get a Seahawks team that will be itching to get back to work after their Super Bowl debacle. St. Louis has played Seattle tough at the Edward Jones Dome for sure but with Nick Foles looking to find his footing, an unproven running back situation and a number of holes all over the field it is hard to imagine the Rams coming out on top here.

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 20, at Washington, 1 p.m. ET

The Rams are on the road in Week 2 against a Washington team that appears to be in disarray once again. I, like many have zero faith in the Skins – St. Louis’s defense should dominate in this one!

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 27, vs. Pittsburgh, 1 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh has potential to be a sneaky team in the NFL this year – LeVeon Bell will play his first game after suspension and Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown could have a field-day on the turf of the dome. I don’t think the Rams score enough to keep up in this one.

Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 4, at Arizona, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Cardinals have been good the last few years and head into the season with huge expectations. Arizona won both meetings of the season last year – the Cards should be better this year. The Rams are in danger of starting 1-3 – yikes!

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 11, at Green Bay, 1 p.m. ET

St. Louis has the unenviable task of heading to Lambeau in Week 5 – at least they won’t have to play there in December! Still, the Packers are poised to be one an elite team this year and at home they are almost untouchable.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Yup, the Rams could head into their bye 1-4!

Week 6: BYE

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 25, vs. Cleveland, 1 p.m. ET

The schedule relaxes for St. Louis after the bye – Cleveland comes to town in a game that the Rams should win. Cleveland isn’t a great team – the Rams should feast at home.

Week 8: Sunday, Nov. 1, vs. San Francisco, 1 p.m. ET

St. Louis gets a crack at a sub-par team for the second week in a row in Week 8 – San Francisco could turn out to be one of the worst teams in the NFC this year – seriously! This divisional game should belong to the Rams.

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 8, at Minnesota, 1 p.m. ET

I am not sold on the Vikings at all. The Rams enter this game with as much confidence as they have had all year long and take care of business. St. Louis can get back to .500 this week – my guess is they come out 4-4.

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 15, vs. Chicago, 1 p.m. ET

Chicago pays visit to the Rams who take a three game win streak into Week 10. With St. Louis playing their best ball of the year expect St. Louis to carve up a brutal Bears defense in this one. St. Louis gets over the .500 mark with a good win here.

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 22, at Baltimore, 1 p.m. ET

The Ravens are a good club and will be fighting for a playoff spot by Week 11. I like Joe Flacco to expose an average Rams secondary and to end St. Louis’s four game win streak.

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 29, at Cincinnati, 1 p.m. ET

The Bengals will be a tough team this season – on the road it is tough to imagine St. Louis upsetting a Bengals team that will be in an inevitable fight in the tough AFC North. Cincinnati should take care of business here dropping the Rams to 5-6 on the year.

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 6, vs. Arizona, 1 p.m. ET

Who do you like better in the NFC West – the Rams or the Cardinals? These teams have a knack of protecting their own house against each other. In a defensive battle, home turf wins out taking St. Louis back to 6-6.

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 13, vs. Detroit, 1 p.m. ET

The one weakness of the Rams defense is the secondary and with Calvin Johnson coming to town to play indoors, the Rams could be in tough in this one.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Detroit’s defense should be able to do enough and the Lions should be too much offensively as they hand St. Louis a home loss.

Week 15: Thursday, Dec. 17, vs. Tampa Bay, 8:25 p.m. ET

Tampa will be a much improved team but not enough to knock off a solid Rams team on the road. Jameis Winston will have his moments but will learn a lesson or two from St. Louis’s typically solid defense.

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 27, at Seattle, 4:25 p.m. ET

Winning in Seattle is a TALL TASK. The NFC West teams have always won inter-divisional games on home turf – I think that trend continues and Rams fall top 7-8.

Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 3, at San Francisco, 4:25 p.m. ET

By this time, my guess is that the Rams have little to play for other than a .500 record. The 49ers will have even less to play for. I have no faith in this year’s 49ers to get it done against the better defenses in the game. Take the Rams to finish up strong and post a win here.

2015 Rams NFL Prediction

Vegas has the Total set at 7.5 wins- I like the Rams to eclipse that. 8-8 is what I see for St. Louis – slightly disappointing for a team with aspirations. But as always the Rams will focus on the good things they did and once again they will ponder their future in Los Angeles!

Did anyone have a worse offseason than the San Francisco 49ers? Seriously. They lost their coach and hired Jim Tomsula to replace him. Who? Exactly. Frank Gore left as did both starting corners and two of their better players on defense – linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland retired.
