NFL Week 5 Handicapping Tips

NFL Week 5 Match Ups

The two big games for week 5 include a couple of teams I did not think we would be talking about before the season began. The 3-1 New England Patriots travel to Denver to take on the surprising 4-0 Broncos and 3-1 Cincinnati heads to Baltimore to clash with the 3-1 Ravens for the outright lead in the AFC North.

Burns’ Bad Beats: Extra points deliver extra bad beats

For something worth one point, PAT’s sure do screw things up.

No one knows that more than bettors who played the Kansas State-Iowa State game or the total in Auburn-Tennessee.

Last season, teams converted extra points better than 95 percent of the time. Thirty-five teams did not miss an extra point all season, and only one team, North Texas, converted on less than 85 percent.

Quick Hits: Saints Picture Perfect?

Could the Saints be ready for perfection?

Three weeks into the NFL season and no true favorite has emerged in the outright betting for a Super Bowl victory, but there have certainly been plenty of movers in the market and none more so than the New Orleans Saints.

Although plenty is known about the fierce Saints offense, which has played brillianty twice and spluttered for one half in an eventually big win over Buffalo, but their defense has surprised many this season.

Quick Look: 2009 Ottawa Senators

Senators can reign this season

Next week brings us the start of yet another major sports season, this time those big guys with sticks and pucks, so who is going to be the sleeper pick for 2009-10 in the National Hockey League?

There are a few candidates to pick from, but the team I fancy to make a massive improvement this coming season is the Ottawa Senators, a franchise that will look very different and could just even be a division winner.

If your team never gives you any hope of winning, the loss often won’t sting as bad. You can simply write it off as a bad decision, try to learn from it and move on.

Saturday’s Wake Forest-Boston College game seemed to be one of those types of games for anyone who bet the Demon Deacons.

MLB Handicapping: Teams To Fade

MLB Fading To Black

The Major League baseball season is winding down, and this year seems quite quiet as th leaves turn to orange and red in New England. The pennant races are just a myth, but there is money to be found in the late season swoon of some of the teams that apparently have found the grass greener on the golf course, as the road is paved with gold. That road has been highly profitable, if you dig into the what becomes apparent quite frequently late in the season.

Here’s the situation: You’re laying two points with a home favorite. Your team just scored a go-ahead touchdown and now leads 10-6 with 2:30 left.

Which opposing NFL quarterback would you most like to be facing in that situation?

Oakland’s JaMarcus Russell, if not the unanimous first choice, has to be in the discussion.
