Saints get signature win and look like an elite team:

The New Orleans Saints took on the undefeated New York Jets this past Sunday and came away with a 14 point victory as 7 point home favorites. It appears that no one can stop the balanced offense of the New Orleans Saints, not even Rex Ryan’s attacking 3-4 defense. Drew Brees didn’t have a big day numbers wise as he only threw for 190 yards and one touchdown but he made the big play in crunch time. With Pierre Thomas back healthy the Saints were able to show that the Saints are not just a passing team. The Saints rushed for 153 yards while Thomas ran the ball 19 times for 86 yards and a touchdown. One of the biggest surprises thus far has been the Saints defense as they only allowed Mark Sanchez and company to just 10 points. This unit is vastly improved from a year ago when they couldn’t stop anybody. The Saints look great on both sides of the ball and after a big win over a talented Jets team, they look to be a forced to be reckoned with in the NFC.

Denver is the surprise team in the NFL thus far:

Heading into the game against Dallas experts were still unsure about this Bronco team as they really hadn’t beaten any very good teams yet. However, the Broncos proved they can beat a quality opponent coming up victorious over the Dallas Cowboys 17-10. Kyle Orton has been a pleasant surprise as he has thrown for 906 yards and 5 touchdowns versus 0 interceptions. He has great weapons around him in Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal and that maybe why Orton is playing much better in Denver than he did in Chicago. The weapons he had in Chicago were not nearly as good as the ones he has in Denver. What’s even more surprising about this team is the way the defense has been playing. Holding a potent offense like Dallas to just 10 points is a tremendous accomplishment. In fact through the first four games, the Denver D is only giving up an average of 6.5 points and 239 total yards per game. They have another big test against New England this week and we should find out more about how good this team is.

Brett Favre is still Brett Favre:

Brett Favre got probably his sweetest victory of his career on Monday night beating his former team 30-23. The 39 year old quarterback proved he can still play at a high level as he torched the Green Bay defense. Favre was extremely accurate going 24/32 for 271 yards and tossing 3 touchdown passes. With Favre at the helm, the Vikings are 4-0 SU and 4-0 ATS. They looked to be the best team in the NFC North as of right now. If Favre can stay healthy, they have a great shot at winning the division. Not only do they finally have a quarterback but they have the best running back in football, Adrian Peterson, and a solid defense. After last night’s game there is a little concern about the secondary as Aaron Rodgers threw for 384 yards. If they can get that fixed this is a team that could go places.
