Every division race in the NFL still remains tight, but we are finally beginning to get a clear picture of which teams will be competing over the final four weeks for one of the six postseason spots in the NFC and AFC. New England and Atlanta won last week and remain at the top of each conference at 10-2. Two divisions; the NFC East and West still have a two-team tie at the top. The lead in five divisions’ remains just one game and Kansas City at 8-4 has opened up a two game lead in the AFC West.

The following is a brief look at each matchup in Week 14 along with the current pointspread as supplied by betED.com.

Thursday, Dec. 09

8:20 P.M. Indianapolis (-3) at Tennessee
Over/Under: 46

The Colts find their season on the brink of disaster after losing four of their last five games to fall to 6-6 on the year. Peyton Manning has now thrown four touchdowns and eight interceptions in his last two games. The Titans have lost five straight games and are finishing this season just like they started last season.

Sunday, Dec. 12

1:00 P.M. New England (-2 ½) at Chicago
Over/Under: 42 ½

The Patriots 45-3 romp over the Jets on Monday night clearly establishes them as the team to beat in the AFC as the road to the Super Bowl appears to be headed through Foxborough. The Bears continue to find ways to win games and are 9-3 despite having the 29th ranked overall offense in the league.

Green Bay (-7) at Detroit
Over/Under: 47

The Packers are 8-4 and one game behind Chicago in the NFC North. This is their last game against a team with a losing record as they finish up against the Patriots, Giants, and Bears. The Lions are 2-10 but have only been outscored by a combined 28 points this season.

Oakland at Jacksonville (-5)
Over/Under: 43

The Raiders have suddenly found new life in the AFC West after knocking off San Diego 28-13 to even their record at 6-6. The Jaguars suddenly find themselves alone in first place in the AFC South at 7-5 after a 17-6 win over Tennessee coupled with a Colts loss to Dallas.

Tampa Bay (-3) at Washington
Over/Under: 41

This is a must-win game for the Buccaneers if they are to have any chance of making the playoffs, after last week’s heart breaking 28-24 loss to Atlanta dropped them to 7-5 on the year. The Redskins offense is almost as bad as their 31st ranked defense; averaging just 18.5 points per game which is ranked 28th in the league.

Atlanta (-7 ½) at Carolina
Over/Under: 42

Falcon RB Michael Turner has rushed for 1,062 yards in 12 games this season, which is only the second time in his seven year career he has gone over 1000 yards. The 1-11 Panthers have only scored more than 20 points twice this season and have been held to 10 points or less five times.

N.Y. Giants (-7) at Minnesota
Over/Under: 44

Giants’ RB Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw have combined for 1,586 rushing yards in the first 12 games to lead the sixth ranked rushing offense in the league. Viking QB Brett Favre is in serious jeopardy of seeing his NFL-record 297 consecutive starts streak end this week after severely injuring his shoulder last Sunday.

Cleveland at Buffalo (-1 ½)
Over/Under: 41

The Browns bring a rare two-game winning streak into this game with one-point win over Carolina and three-point win over Miami. Their last four games have been decided by a total of 14 points. The Bills lost two starters on their offensive line with knee injuries in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh (-9)
Over/Under: 40 ½

The Bengals are making a serious run at next year’s No. 1 overall pick in the draft with their ninth straight loss after starting the season 2-1. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger underwent surgery this week to repair a broken nose he sustained in their 13-10 win over Baltimore, but is expected to be ready to go for this game.

4:05 P.M. Seattle at San Francisco (-4 ½)
Over/Under: 40 ½

The Seahawks will most likely be without their leading receiver Mike Williams for this game after injuring his ankle last week against Carolina. The 49ers are 4-8 but just two games out of the lead in the NFC with a chance to cut it to one with a win against Seattle along with a St. Louis loss. NFL Betting

St. Louis at New Orleans (-9 ½)
Over/Under: 47

The Rams are 6-6 and have won three out of their last five games, but have yet to beat a team with a winning record. The Saints are 9-3 and just one game out of first in the NFC South, but have needed minor miracles to pull out wins in their last two games over Dallas and Cincinnati.

Kansas City at San Diego (-7)
Over/Under: 46 ½

The Chiefs can just about lock up the AFC West with a win this week that would give them a 9-4 record overall and a two-game sweep over San Diego this season. The Chargers will most likely be without TE Antonio Gates and RB Darren Sproles for his game after both suffered injuries in Sunday’s loss to Oakland.

Miami at N.Y. Jets (-7)
Over/Under: 41 ½

The Dolphins’ season is on life-support after Sunday’s 13-10 loss to Cleveland dropped them to 6-6 on the year. The Jets will have to find a way to regain their swagger after Monday night’s beatdown at the hands of New England which also happens to be the only team with a winning record that New York beat this season.

Denver (-3) at Arizona
Over/Under: 42 ½

The Broncos decided to fire head coach Josh McDaniels and replace him with running backs coach Eric Studesville as their interim coach. The Cardinals have lost their last seven games and have scored a total of 25 points in their last three.

8:20 P.M. Philadelphia (-3 ½) at Dallas
Over/Under: 50 ½

The Eagles are hoping to have All-Pro cornerback Asante Samuel back this week after he missed the last two games with a knee injury. The Cowboys have lost WR/KR Dez Bryant for the rest of the season after he broke his ankle in Sunday’s win over the Colts.

Monday, Dec. 13

8:30 P.M. Baltimore (-3) at Houston
Over/Under: 45 ½

The Ravens need to quickly pick up the pieces after a devastating loss to Pittsburgh last Sunday that dropped them to 8-4 and out of the lead in the AFC North for the first time since Week 8. The Texans 4-2 start has turned into 5-7 record overall after losing five of their last six games mainly because of continual breakdowns on defense.
