Craig’s Top 5 Power Rankings College Basketball

Well its been over two weeks since Craig has released his Power Rankings for College Basketball. The Madness has officially begun and the upsets are only just starting. Not a ton of change at the top of Craig’s Power Rankings but the top 5 has had a few changes.

Lets take a look at one of Craig’s best sports handicapping tools.

1. Pittsburgh: Best team from the best conference makes it hard to keep them out of the top spot. As of right now they are a lock for the overall #1 seed come selection Sunday. Craig predicts they coast to the final four. They have a great balance of senior experience and youthful exuberance. Best big shot player in college basketball has to be Fields who has consistently over his four year career took and mad the big one.

2. North Carolina: Previous #1 ranking have been downgraded due to lack of depth at the PG spot and an injury to PG Lawson. Most athletically gifted and talented team in college basketball but lack of consistent defensive intensity has cost them several losses this season. Have been the favorite the last two seasons and both times lost because a lack of defense. Think they are bet against winning it all but have to respect the talent.

3. Louisville: Some bad out of conference losses had Coach Pitino scratching his head early in the season. But since the Big East started no one has been more consistent. Winner of the Big East and a huge win over Pittsburgh have this team way up on Craig’s rankings. Big powerful team can give this team trouble will need a good draw to win it all but have the guards to make it interesting.

4. UCONN: Down two spots since Craig’s last released rankings. Since Dyson went down this team has had trouble scoring consistently from the perimeter. Might be the weakest of the most likely #1 seeds. If guard play wins championships like everyone says it does then this team will fall short. But, don’t rule out Coach Calhoun who has won two Championships with big men led teams.

5. Wake Forest: You heard it hear first this is the most dangerous of the non #1 seeds in all the tournament. Craig predicts this team in the Final 4 and is his best bet in NCAA Championship Futures. Teague can carry a team on his back and Wake has the best depth of any of the top teams. Hope they lose in the ACC Tournament early so we can get even better odds for them to win it all!!

This season as all other ends with a Madness of last second buzzer beaters and Cinderella teams that bust all of our brackets. Make sure you check back over the next week as Craig will have many articles breaking down trends, teams, and helping you the bettor win in March!!

I agree with your views on Wake Forest. With all the attention on North Carolina and even Duke to a certain extent, this team is as good if not better in some respects. It will be interesting to see how the ACC tournament plays out, but I do not see an early exit for Wake.
