The Big 12 Report – Showdown in Lubbock Part II

Another barn burner last week in the Big 12, where the Texas Tech Red Raiders showed their prowess against a weary but yet very good Texas team last week in a thriller in Lubbock. Quarterback Graham Harrell threw all over Texas and Mike Crabtree proved again to warrant Heisman consideration, as he is totally uncoverable for any team in the NCAA. He broke away from tight double coverage on the sideline route and scored a TD to win the game with 1 second left.

Neither team deserved to lose and both are 2 of the top teams in the nation. We picked up the cover in this game for you as the line dropped from Texas Tech +6.5 to +3 at the closing bell. Tech has Okie State and Oklahoma left on the schedule so we will see if they can win out and represent the South, odds are they will not.

In other news, any Mizzou fan that thinks the Tigers have a shot STILL at the national title, are sadly mistaken. After losing BOTH their games, one of them badly, to ranked opponents, they limped out of Waco Texas with a 3 point win over Baylor. End of story for the Tigers who will win the north, but lose again the title game, the South is too strong in talent for any team from the North to beat. Oklahoma hammered the Huskers in that storied rivalry like they were a high school team, while Kansas destroyed Kansas State in shocking fashion, putting my Big 12 Game of the Month to shame! Poor K State gets a ticked off Mizzou team hungry for new found respect at home this week, not good news for Wildcat fans.

Colorado proved to be inept on offense again as my other premium play, Texas AM easily covered the -3 number and got us win, but bad news for Aggie fans, OU comes calling this week. The Big 12 showdown this week is Oklahoma State at Texas Tech for all the marbles here, with national title hopes on the line for Texas Tech. Texas gets some relief with Baylor and Nebraska gets to try to atone for last years debacle against Kansas in Lincoln on Saturday, MY BIG 12 GAME OF THE YEAR!

This weeks highlighted games (9-3 ATS run)

Colorado -10 vs.. Iowa State

All over the Cyclones here. With the worst offense in the Big 12, what in the world is Colorado laying 10 points to anyone, in any conference. Unsettled at QB still, and when head coach Hawkins benched his own son at QB, you know there are issues. Big 12 Conference Football Handicapping TipsThe Buffs lost the starting RB and that has yet to be settled, and while Iowa State not a good team or good road team, rest assured this one goes down tot he wire. The Cyclones are 3-1 ATS in this series the last 4 years. Colorado 21 Iowa State 20.

Mizzou -26 vs. Kansas State

Hate to lay big numbers like this ANY DAY in this NCAA climate but Kansas threw and ran all over Kansas State in a game they waited 365 days to play and lost in humiliating fashion. Kansas does not have better players than Mizzou, which leads to the fact that QB Daniel and his WR unit should have a HUGE day against the hapless Wildcats, who are in dire need of a running game, a defensive secondary, along with other issues, not to mention a coach in Ron prince whose head is being called for by Wildcat nation. This game will not help his cause, Mizzou will show up and dominate at home. Mizzou 52 K State 20

Texas Tech -3 vs. Oklahoma State

Going into Columbia and beating Mizzou is the only feather in Okie State’s cap right now. I simply cannot back anyone against Tech after what I witnessed both last week, and when I saw them in person in Lawrence Kansas, as they DESTROYED an above average Kansas team. QB Harrell is the real deal and will be able to stretch the field against Oklahoma State. Have no illusions, Oklahoma State is good and are catching Tech off a huge win, but Tech is better. You saw how good the Red Raiders defense was last week against a potent Texas attack, and while the Cowboys will come in here running it as much as they can with RB Hunter to kill the clock and keep Tech’s offense off the field, the Red Raiders need less than 2 minutes to go 80 yards and score as you all noticed last week. This will be a good game, but at days end, playing at home, and having focus this week in practice as I have been told, the only choice is Texas Tech, they will out score Okie State here and win by a TD, lay the wood. Texas Tech 31 Oklahoma State 24. THE UNDER 74 WOULD BE WORTH A LOOK!!
