Super Bowl 43 Futures / Betting Props

NFL midseason football betting props, and handicapping for the 2009 Super Bowl, plus online sports handicappers tips and opinion…

It’s not too late to get down on the Super Bowl!

It’s not too late to log onto the BetUS Sportsbook and get an online bet down onto the winner of this year’s Super Bowl!

It’s week nine of the NFL season which is the perfect time to get an online wager down on the team you think will make their way into the Super Bowl and the history books!

Surprisingly, some NFL pre-season favorites haven’t faired to well. The Minnesota Vikings, 18 and 1 to win the Super Bowl before the season started, are in danger of not even making the playoffs. The Dallas Cowboys, 8 and 1 when the NFL betting season started, look like a terrible online bet to win the Super Bowl at this point.

The San Diego Chargers, 7.5 to 1 to win the Super Bowl in the BetUS online sportsbook before the season started, just suffered their fifth loss of the season. The Indianapolis Colts, at NFL pre-season online betting NFL odds of 7 to 1 before week one, just suffered their fourth loss of the season.

But for every favorite that went down in flames, there’s a long shot or two that deserves mentioning! Take a look at this list, the fair sports betting odds, wait for the BetUS Super Bowl lines to come out, and then adjust your handicapping accordingly!

Fair Online Odds on NFL Teams to Win the Super Bowl

1. Tennessee Titans – – 7/1 fair online betting odds – – Why are the Titans fair online wagering odds so high? In my estimation, this team continues to win, but they are ripe for an upset in the playoffs. They don’t have the necessary tools to make it to the Super Bowl. They are missing leadership on the offensive side of the ball. I’m a huge believer in your quarterback being your leader in this league. Once in a while you can make a Super Bowl with a suspect quarterback. But it doesn’t happen often.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers – – 6/1 fair online betting odds – – This team has the quarterback. They have the defense. They will get healthier. They have the heart.

They should represent the AFC in the Super Bowl this season. Big Ben doesn’t make mistakes and with Santonio Holmes coming back from suspension and Willie Parker getting healthy at the right time, the Steelers are a very good online bet to make it to the Super Bowl. Once they get there, they can win the thing.

3. New York Giants – – 5/1 fair online betting odds – – I’ve made their odds lower than the Titans because they aren’t undefeated like the Titans, but they are the best team in the NFC and they proved that they can go into a hostile environment and win. This team is every bit as good as last season’s Super Bowl winning squad. Also, they seem hungrier than last year.

4. Carolina Panthers – – 7/1 fair online betting odds – – The Panthers are arguably the best team in the NFC right now. They are battle tested and Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith are starting to get it going at the right time. They have two solid running backs and their defense is playing with fire. They should keep things going in the NFC.

5. Philadelphia Eagles – – 10/1 fair online betting odds – – A healthy Donovan McNabb and a healthy Brian Westbrook means lots and lots of wins. This team’s defense is starting to play better. That means they are ultra-dangerous going down the stretch.

6. Buffalo Bills – – 12/1 fair online betting odds – – Buffalo and Tennessee are the same exact team. The main difference is that Buffalo has had a tougher schedule. I’m not sold on Trent Edwards and Buffalo’s defense can give it up once in a while. Still, in a week AFC, they deserve some mentioning.

7. Green Bay Packers – – 15/1 fair online betting odds – – It’s not too late for the Packers to do some damage in the NFC this season. They have the necessary qualities to really make an impact if they make the playoffs. Their defense is very good and Aaron Rodgers is a leader.

8. Chicago Bears – – 20/1 fair online betting odds – – The Bears could make some noise because their offense is much better than last season’s version. The biggest question mark regarding the Bears, strangely enough, is how their defense will hold up in the long term. This team is good but that small front seven could find themselves sucking win towards the end of the regular season and into the playoffs.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – – 20/1 fair online betting odds – – I want to make Tampa Bay a much better favorite than 20 to 1, but losing to the Cowboys on the road while playing against Brad Johnson is inexcusable. Is the toughness there? I think so, but I can’t go with them.

10. New Orleans Saints – – 30/1 fair online betting odds – – The Saints have the best player in the NFL right now tossing the ball downfield. Their offense is amazing, but that defense is garbage. They could luck their way into the Super Bowl and then luck their way to a victory, but there’s a reason I’m making them a good online bet at 30 to 1 or higher. No faith in their kicking game. No faith in their defense but at 30 to 1? Yeah, they got a shot.

Teams to stay away from:

Stay away from the Dallas Cowboys, who have a terrible defense, the San Diego Chargers, who have a worse defense, the New England Patriots, who could turn it around enough to make the playoffs but should lose to Buffalo, Tennessee or Pittsburgh once they do, the New York Jets, who have a crazy man tossing the ball, the Denver Broncos, who will implode like they do every year, and every other team that you believe won’t make the playoffs!

Good Luck!
