These prop bets range from the obvious (correct score of the game) to the unique (the Over/Under on the length of the national anthem). Over the next week and a half we’ll look at many of the Super Bowl prop betting options and where the betting public are putting their money.

Super Bowl Props

SPORTSBETTING.com has hundreds and hundreds of props listed and some of the most innovative options you’ll find anywhere.

Let’s get the popular coin toss one out of the way at the start here…will the opening coin toss be heads or tails is currently listed at -115 for both options (I don’t really see this line moving due to heavy one-sided action…lol)

Over/Under Props and Scoring Props:

The Total for the Super Bowl is at 56 and of course there are numerous props related to the Over/Under.

For example, one betting option is: What will the actual Total score of the game be? An Even number (-110) or an Odd number (-120)?

There is also a proposition on the highest-scoring quarter with the first and the third listed at +500, the second at +150 and the fourth at +170.

Pick Six Prop:

As a team, the Colts intercepted 16 passes this season, Antoine Bethea led the way with four, while LB Clint Session and DB Jacob Lacey both returned INTs for TDs and if any Indy defensive player returns a pick for a major, it will net you a payday at +232.

Quick Score Prop: The Saints have a high-powered offense and Peyton Manning can pick apart a defense with laser-like precision and there is a prop on whether there will be a score in the first 7.5 minutes of the game, -230 for Yes and +180 for No.

Early action at SPORTSBETTING.com has, somewhat predictably, come in on the “Yes” side of this prop, with 85% of all the action so far siding with a score in the first 7.5 minutes.

First Play of the Game prop:

With arguably the two best QBs in the game, there are decent odds that the first offensive play of the game will be a pass and to that end, the “First Offensive Play by Either Team” proposition sees a Pass favored at -125 while a Run is at +105.Superbowl XLIV

Special Teams Prop:

Do you think there will be a kick-off returned for a TD? Colts return man T.J. Rushing isn’t exactly a burner totaling 119 yards on punts and 127 yards on kickoffs but kick returner Chad Simpson has 898 yards on 38 kickoffs and he even returned one 93 yards for a TD.

If you wager on a kickoff to be returned for a TD, it will payout at +550 and ditto for a punt returned for a TD. Might be worth a $10.00 shot

While the Colts’ Adam Vinatieri normally handles all the kicks, he has been sidelined with a knee injury (but still listed on the active roster) and former Baltimore Ravens K Matt Stover has been handling the field goals and point afters.

Stover made 81.8 percent of his field goals during the regular season (9 for 11) and went 33 of 33 in PATs; he is perfect in the playoffs, making 5 of 5 field goals and point afters.

After missing four games earlier in the season for a positive test for a banned substance, New Orleans kicker Garrett Hartley was able to wrest the starting role back from John Carney late in the season and finished, making 9 of 11 field goals and 10 of 11 XPs.

In the postseason he is a perfect 2 of 2 for FGs and 10 of 10 for extra points.

There are a number of kicker-related propositions as well.

The Over/Under for the longest field goal is set at 42.5 and the Over/Under for the Total number of field goals made by both teams is 3.

That is just a taste of what is on the board for prop betting options on the biggest game of the year.

We’ll look at more as the game gets closer.
