In Muhammad Ali’s 1974 Rumble in the Jungle bout against George Foreman, Ali backed into the ropes, covered up and let Foreman wail away at him. The ropes absorbed a lot of the force of Foreman’s punches, tiring him out. Ali then attacked and won the fight.

The Anaheim Ducks will look to continue their assault on top spot in the NHL Friday when they host the Detroit Red Wings for the first of two meetings between the clubs in three days. Not that they really need it but Corey Perry will be back in the lineup Friday after serving his four game suspension – the Ducks went 3-0-1 in his absence and are now a staggering 15-1-3 in their last 19 games.
I was a little surprised that Kansas received the #1 seed but their resume passes the test. Another season, another regular season title (shared) and conference tournament title.
At one point Florida was in the conversation about the best teams in the nation. They sputtered for a while though which is why they have only a #3 next to their name. There were clearly the best team in the SEC but that might not be saying all that much, especially after they lost in the SEC tourney final to Ole Miss.
A lot of you are saying “here we go again!” The Oakland A’s with a paltry payroll are expecting to compete with two spending goliaths in MLB. But as we have seen before, the Oakland A’s will find a way to be competitive with names that may not have made a top tier roster.
The 2013 MLB season is around the corner and the Tampa Bay Rays find themselves in a very familiar spot – with an average payroll but brimming with young talent. Every year we wait for a drop-off from this team but a combination of a terrific front office, stellar managing and a good young nucleus has the Rays on the radar once again.
The No. 11 Minnesota Golden Gophers will take on the No. 6 UCLA Bruins in the second round of the NCAA Tournament’s South Region. Despite their seedings, the Gophers are favored coming into this matchup by three points.
The No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 7 San Diego State Aztecs will face off Friday night in a second round matchup in the South Region. The winner will move on to face the winner between No. 2 Georgetown and No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast.

Two struggling Eastern Conference teams and former Division leaders meet in an effort to right their own ships on Thursday night when the New Jersey Devils head to Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. The Devils have lost three straight to fall out of a playoff spot in the East while the Carolina Hurricanes have lost four straight to fall behind the Winnipeg Jets in the Southeast.
The No. 10 Colorado Buffaloes and the No. 7 Fighting Illini are set to face off Friday, March 22 in a second round matchup in the East Region. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:40 PM ET, and it can be viewed on TNT.
There has never been hoops expectations like there are in Miami this year. A team that was considered middle of the pack went on to win regular season and tournament ACC titles to earn a #2 seed.
In the first game for both teams in the East region and Syracuse is the 4th seed and Montana is the 13th seed. Obviously, in the Big East the Orange played a much tougher schedule and even though Montana only had 1 less wins NCAAB lines have the Orange as the big 12.5-point favorites with a total of 128.5.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies picked up a nice 73-72 win over Liberty in the Opening Round Game Tuesday in Dayton, but things will get a whole lot tougher for the Aggies on Thursday evening.
