Cincy travels all the way to the west coast for this game with a new coach and new pieces of the puzzle on offense. Cincy still has a few nice options but the defense is suspect at best. At the end of last year, Cincy couldnt stop anyone which put alot of pressure on the offense to score almost everytime they touched the ball. Cincinnati doesnt have that type of offense that they had with Pike and Gilyard on board. Fresno returns 7 starters on offense including their QB and their whole offensive line. On defense they return 8 starters including their front line. This powerful running game should pick up right where they left off a year ago when they averaged 228ypg on the ground. Fresno has historically started off seasons tough on defense especially at home.

Nothing really to be said about this TCU team that basically returns their whole team from a year ago. This TCU squad after an undefeated regular season is coming off a disappointing loss in the Fiesta Bowl and has a chip on their shoulder heading into this 2010 campaign. TCU's average margin of victory at home was 35 points in 6 home games a year ago. This Oregon State team holds over the Rodgers' tandem but they experience at the QB position with first year starter Ryan Katz is going to prove costly with this dominant TCU defense. This TCU team is the most senior laden team in the country and they will prove they belong back in the BCS talk once again starting tonight.

Mississippi State is in the 2nd year of the Dan Mullen era, and he's got his athletic QB running his spread. This new scheme increased scoring for this Bulldog offense by 68% and the Bulldogs will increase this productivity again this year. This Mississippi State team will move the ball effectively in this game againsst a defense that returns 3 starters and gave up close to 200ypg on the ground and nearly 500ypg overall a season ago. Memphis is rebuilding their program and do not have the pieces in place to compete with this SEC team.

Arizona has been swinging some hot bats of late and that is not good news for the gas can, Bud Norris. In 2 career starts vs this Diamonback club, Norris has given up 6 earned in both starts, one a 5 inning performance and the second he failed to make it out of the first inning. Houston has really struggled against left hand pitching this year to the tune of .231 on the road. While Joe Saunders is no world beater, he has some pretty solid numbers at home in his short stint in Arizona. He is 2-2 with a 3.72 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, far better than Norris' road splits of 5.11 and 1.58 WHIP. Houston is just 1-8 their last 9 meetings with Arizona and 0-4 their last 4 meetings in Arizona. Big in-state rivalry here in the Bluegrass State as Kentucky visits Louisville. Kentucky has owned this series recently, winning 3 straight. This is another SEC East team that looks to make some noise this season with a lot of pieces back on offense. Kentucky has been good in years past when they've had pieces on offense such as Andre Woodson. Joker Philips is the long time offensive coordinaor at Kentucky, and they promoted from within. So there is stability here with this program and probably a lot of things are being done similar in the sense of signals, audibles, language, playbooks, etc that will give Kentucky an advantage in this game. With the offensive-minded Joker Phillips having his pieces in place on offense, he should be able to make some things happen for Kentucky.
On the other side, Louisville brings in the defensive minded Charlie Strong from Florida, and Strong will find a tough road ahead in the early going as he will not have the athletes on defense to do the things he likes to do. Strong will play a very soft coverage on defense where the corners line up almost 10 yards off the ball and keep everything in front due to the lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball.
Kentucky has a lot of weapons on offense and they will get some space to operate in this game, and I see Kentucky moving the ball effectively here.
Ill take the Wildcats here as a 5* play for Saturday!
Brian Kelly opens up as new Notre Dame head coach and he's got a few pieces to play with on the Irish offense including WR Michael Floyd and RB Armando Allen. Purdue has a toy of their own with former Miami QB Transfer Robert Marve who saw the writing on the wall that Jacory Harris was their guy and left town. Marve can beat you with his arm or his legs, and both teams will run a wide open spread attack. Kelly wasn't scared to drop 70 on anyone while he was at Cincy, and neither team is known for defense. Purdue had just 1 game last year where they scored less than 20 points, and they upgraded at QB this year. Besides last year's 45 point total, these two teams got into the 50's or higher in 5 straight meetings with each other. Purdue has a young defense and I think they will struggle here. Kelly likes to push the pace early in the year and his Cincy teams have scored either their highest or 2nd highest point toal of the season in his 1st game every year he was there. They always got into the 40s minimum.

Miami of Ohio is just bad. MAC teams are cleaning up on Miami OH and they only won 1 game last year, 2 the year before, 2 three years before that, they haven't had a winning season in a long time, they have no gamebreakers or pieces of any puzzle that are ready to break out. They routinely get burned on defense and last year they got shut out by Boise State AND Kentucky in back to back weeks. They had 4 games last season where they scored 6 points or less with a MAC schedule. Thats pathetic and Urban Meyer will exploit this team in the home opener. Florida has tons and tons of speed and that speed puts on a field day against teams like Miami OH. Urban Meyer's Gators have put up 49 points or more on non major opponents like these for the past 6 games. Florida runs it up here on opening day.
