The Mean Green went on a mean 'over' tear last year thanks to the passing efficiency of Riley Dodge and the rushing abilities of Lance Dunbar. Dodge, a dual threat quarterback, threw for 1,975 yards and rushed for 463 more in ‘09. Dunbar carried the ball a whopping 200 times for 1,378 yards and seven TDs.
North Texas still doesn't have any semblance of a defense to speak of, though. After holding Ball State to just ten points and Ohio to 31 to start the year, the 'D' just collapsed, allowing an average of 45.1 points per game in a six game stretch between September 19th and October 31st.
Eleven of North Texas' L/15 non-conference games have surpassed the 'total', while the 'over' is 8-3 in its L/11 games overall.
Make no mistake about this. North Texas is not going to go down without a fight on Saturday afternoon. The Mean Green can score and do so on anyone in the country. They'll push Clemson to make plays offensively. Whether the Tigers cover the four TD spread is a different question. What we do know, is that this should be a barnburner from the opening kick!
TCU is going to have the unenviable task of trying to stop the two Rodgers brothers this week, as both James and Jacquizz are back to make life a living hell on the opposition.
These two are simply fantastic, and while Jacquizz is doing all of the flashy work and scoring most of the touchdowns, James does the grunt work of going over the middle for receptions and returning kicks. These two will inevitably come up with at least 300 combined all-purpose yards in this game, as they averaged 330.0 per game a year ago.
As for TCU, this is the year that the face of college football can change. The Horned Frogs think they can run the table and not just play in the BCS, but in the BCS Championship Game as well.
The defense is going to be missing two key cogs though, as both Daryl Washington and Jerry Hughes have departed. This is still a unit that isn't afraid to smack you in the mouth and come after your quarterback on every single play.
Betting against Mike Riley is a tough thing to do, especially when he has the entire summer to prepare for just one game. The Beavers deserve a lot of credit for essentially playing a road game here against one of the best mid-major schools in the country.
The Beavers ultimately won't come out on top, but I project a closer game than this inflated line suggests. TCU's in for a fight!

NCAA-F | Sep 04, 2010 Bowling Green Falcons vs. Troy Trojans
The Falcons had the fourth ranked passing attack in the nation last year under the direction of Tyler Sheehan. He threw for 339 yards and two scores in the Falcons' 31-14 upset of the Trojans last season. Fifteen of his 32 completions went to Freddie Barnes, who was one of the best receivers in the nation to boot. Now, both are gone, and there is a huge question about the quality of athlete that is replacing them. Levi Brown is gone for Troy as well. Brown was one of the best players that the Trojans have ever had on their roster, and he had a fantastic senior season, throwing for 4,254 yards and 23 TDs against just nine picks. The 'under' has cashed in seven of Bowling Green's L/10 road games. One thing that the Falcons have been fantastic at is limiting opposing teams from scoring when they are on the road. That's why BGSU is 21-8-1 ATS in its L/30 road games. That being said, both offenses are facing challenges of their own having to replace fantastic starting quarterbacks. The oddsmakers have overhyped the 'total' in this spot, and I look to reap the reward because of it.
Butch Jones has already followed in Brian Kelly's footsteps once on the sidelines at Central Michigan, and the Chippewas never missed a beat in that transition. Here, Jones has Zach Collaros, a super sophomore with the possibility of being a Heisman Trophy candidate. Collaros was arguably the better of the two quarterbacks last year at the U of C, as he threw for 1,434 yards and ten scores on 93-of-124 passing when Pike went down with a wrist injury. The Bulldogs are just 17-35 ATS in their L/52 games overall, while Cincy has covered 10 of its L/13 September battles. The Bearcats might not have the same type of offensive veterans they boasted a year ago, but that doesn't mean the team is any less talented; especially with Collaros calling the shots. Simply put, the wrong team is favored in this game, as an above average WAC school shouldn't be laying points to a team that went undefeated in the 2009 regular season. Apparently, the oddsmakers still haven't learned their lesson.
Yes, this game is at Michigan Stadium, but playing at the Big House has lost its luster the last couple years, and the Huskies are the better team that boasts the perfect style to take the crowd out of the game here. This is because of UCONN’s ability to run the ball down its opponent’s throats and play solid defense. Connecticut should take advantage of a young Michigan stop unit that allowed 171.9 rushing yards per game last year on 4.4 yards per carry and is now transitioning to a 3-3-5 set. Rodriguez also still has no clue with whom to go with at QB, and will shuffle his kids in and out throughout the game; it will only confuse the offense more and not allow it to get in a rhythm to fight back. Look for UCONN to pound the rock on the Wolverines defense and improve to 8-0 ATS their L/8 as a visitor.
I’m by no means a fan of laying this type of lumber on the road, especially with an Army club not familiar with this role whatsoever. That said; the Eagles stand no chance of limiting them on the ground, and that will be the key to us cashing this ticket. Yes, E MICH only surrendered 151 YPG through the air last season, but there is a major flaw in taking that much stock in that statistic. Reason being, teams never had to throw on them because they felt no resistance running the ball evidenced by the fact that the stop unit allowed an obscene 277 YPG on the ground. While the Eagles will be an improved team this year (how could they not after going 0-12 last year), they still have no shot at competing let alone winning this game. Army will go to a bowl or the first time since 1996 as it has 16 returning starters, and the offense loves to run the ball evidenced by its 275 YPG average a year ago. This is just a terrible match-up for the home team, and I firmly expect the Black Knights to halt their seven-game ATS losing streak when favored on the road. Lay the chalk; CONFIDENTLY!
