NBA | Nov 19, 2009 Chicago Bulls vs. Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers will get back Pau Gasol in this game, which will be a huge boost to them this season. However, teams usually don’t play as well in the first game that their star player returns. That is because the team has been used to the rotation and playing with each other. When the starter returns, the rotations and substitutions are altered and the team is out of rhythm. Chicago is on their long road trip because of the circus being in town. This is only their second game of the trip, so the Bulls will bring their best effort tonight. The Lakers have a tendency to play down to their opponents, especially against the better teams in the league. Chicago has the players to hang with Los Angeles, and I feel that the Lakers are overvalued in this game to begin with. Look for the Bulls to keep this game within single digits.

NBA | Nov 19, 2009 Utah Jazz vs. San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio will be without their star guard Manu Ginobli and probably will be without guard Tony Parker in this game. The Spurs also have to play in back-to-back nights after playing a road game last night at Dallas. To make matters even worse, they lost in overtime, which means their starters played even more minutes. Utah got star point guard Deron Williams back last night, and he allowed the Jazz to get an easy blowout win over Toronto. Utah also defeated San Antonio in a 14 point home win earlier in the season. The Spurs have traditionally not been a good point spread team playing in back-to-back nights as well, and playing an overtime game last night against a good team is even more reason to fade them tonight. I look for Utah to take this game down to the wire.

NFL | Nov 19, 2009 Miami Dolphins vs. Carolina Panthers
Miami will be without their star running back Ronnie Brown for this game, which is a severe blow to an offense that focuses on their running game. Losing their starting running back will also have an effect on their wildcat offense, especially since teams have been doing a better job at game planning against it recently. Miami will also be without their starting tight end Anthony Fasano. The Dolphins have been wary of opening up the offense, despite having a quarterback who is able to throw down the field. Meanwhile, the Panthers offense lost their starting left tackle Jordan Gross on Sunday’s game against Atlanta. His loss is a huge blow to the offense that probably won’t be noticed by the average bettor. However, sharp bettors have been pounding this line down dropping it to 42.5/43 from 44. The Panthers are also dealing with a banged up Jonathan Stewart as well. Miami has been fairly stout against the run as well, so the Panthers run based offense should struggle to move the ball. Neither offense is good at producing big plays either, so I expect this game to be low scoring and a slug fest. Make sure to shop around and get this line at 43 points.
