Let’s take a peek at both games on the schedule, the odds that accompany those games and what should play out on the second-last weekend of NFL ball.
NFC Championship Game – No. 4 Green Bay (10-6) at No. 2 Atlanta (11-5)
Opening Line: Falcons -4 points
Current Line: Falcons -4 points
Over/Under: 60.5 points
The line for this game has been all over the map but for now the home team Falcons are favored – and perhaps rightfully so. The Falcons won the only meeting between these teams in Week 8 – 33-32. It will be offense and more offense in this game and Vegas has been all over that notion – Covers.com for instance has it as the second-highest total in playoff history.
We all know about how Hot the Packers have been – Aaron Rodgers has been a man amongst boys and his team has covered in both games so far during the playoffs. Green Bay is 5-5 ATS on the road including the playoffs – not all that great but Atlanta is just 3-5 ATS at home this season.

This game comes down to which defense you think will perform at a higher level and will be able to generate a stop or two. In this case you have to love how Atlanta’s defense has come on of late. They held Seattle down last week which was impressive and should be able to at least limit the effectiveness of Aaron Rodgers along the way.
Green Bay’s defense is banged up – the secondary is in shambles and the run defense will likely have its issues slowing down the two headed rushing monster of Atlanta. Sure Aaron Rodgers has been out of this world but he may have to play without Jordy Nelson and Devonte Adams who wrecked his ankle in Green Bay’s win on Saturday.
This game will be a track meet- make no mistake about it with Atlanta coming out on top. I don’t see Green Bay stopping Matt Ryan and company while I can’t imagine Aaron Rodgers keeping his insane pace with Nelson and Adams on the sideline. Health is key in the playoffs and the Packers unfortunately are banged up on both sides of the ball.
I like Atlanta to prevail 33-27 in this game.
AFC Championship Game – No. 3 Pittsburgh at No. 1 New England (14-2)
Opening Line: Patriots -4.5 vs. Steelers
Current Line: Patriots -5.5 vs. Steelers
Over/Under: 51.5
Like the NFC Championship game the AFC features two high octane offenses – it should be a high scoring affair. Neither team looked absolutely dominant last week but each is relatively healthy and full of weapons on both sides of the ball. New England played awful against Houston and still won by 18 while the Steelers failed to score one touchdown but still prevailed on the road by two at Arrowhead.
We all know about the New England Patriots at home particularly in the playoffs. But this week they face a team that was built to defeat them. Pittsburgh is a ball control offense capable of keeping Tom Brady and company off the field.

Le’Veon Bell, off a 170 yard effort again KC is perhaps the best player in this game. He will be effective as will Antonio Brown who will be the best pass catcher in this game.
Although I like New England’s defense a little more in this game, the Steelers’ D seems to be peeking as we head deeper into the postseason. With Dion Lewis discovering a fumbling issue, with Steelers’ kicker Chris Boswell becoming money in the bank, everything seems to be pointing Pittsburgh’s way.
Look – I’m not saying that Pittsburgh definitely wins this game but 5.5 points in just too rich for my blood. Take the Steelers to cover the spread in what looks an awful lot like a 33-30 game.
An upset wouldn’t shock me in the least here.
