This Week’s PGA Tour Predictions!
The first of the World Golf Championship events of the season comes our way from Shanghai China this week and the Sheshan Golf Club – a relatively tough Par 72, 7,261 yard track. The last five winners here have been among golf’s elite – Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson, Ian Poulter, Martin Kaymer and Francesco Molinari represent the last five victors here.

Length off the tee hasn’t usually been a determining factor – accuracy is more important as evidenced by Tim Clark’s runner-up finish to Bubba last year. That said heavy hitters seem to get a leg up on this track.
A good all around game and an ability to stay out of the heavy rough will be crucial here. A hot putter and an ability to take care of business on the four par 5s will get it done this week.

With that in mind who should we keep out eye on this week?
Let’s take a look.
2015 World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions Favorites:
Rory McIlroy 28/5
Rory has been terrific on this track – no worse that T6 in four visits. He finished T6 last week at the Turkish Airlines Open and is obviously one to keep an eye on this upcoming week. McIlroy will be out to prove something against a top field and has the perfect game to do just that!
Jordan Spieth 9/1
Spieth plays his first official event since winning the FedEx Cup. He hasn’t played all that well at Sheshan in his career and there may be a bit of a rust factor this week. But and that’s a big BUT – this is Jordan Spieth we are talking about!
Dustin Johnson 16/1
Won here in 2013 in his only appearance at this event. He had top four finishes in his last four starts on TOUR – as consistently good as any player at the end of the season. DJ looked terrific in his only appearance here and if rust isn’t a factor, he should do well here this week.
2015 World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions Contenders:
Bubba Watson 17/1
Defending champion also finished T8 here in 2013 – his track record is terrific. Watson also enters in decent form – top 10 finishes in five of his last seven events played.

Bubba is a factor every time he tees it up and on a track that seriously suits his eye, you have to love him to do well this week.
Rickie Fowler 21/1
Finished one stroke back of a playoff last year and will be out to better that result this week. He has played just once this new season – a T25 in Vegas. Fowler’s game seems to be perfectly suited for this track – the only thing that worries me is his ultra-aggressive style – could be very good or very bad this week.
Kevin Na 29/1
Is the hottest guy on TOUR early in the season – a P2, T-2, and T-3 in the first three events. He finished T20 in this event last year and looks overdue for a hard-to-come-by win.
Justin Thomas 30/1
OK it may be Thomas that is the hottest guy on the planet – a win last week and a T-3 at the Frys.com Open. He has serious length off the tee but what was impressive last week was the fact that he led field in putts per GIR. Thomas suddenly has the all-around game to make things interesting this week for sure.
Martin Kaymer 35/1
Has a stellar track record here – a win in 2011 and four other top 10s. His current form isn’t the best right now but if there is any track capable of breaking him out its this one.
Branden Grace 40/1
Grace went 5-0-0 at the President’s Cup – he should be a confident ahead of this week. He was T17 at the CIMB and now has 18 top 20s in his last 27 starts. Grace is a sneaky entry this week – his game lines up well here.
2015 World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions Sleepers (50/1 or higher):
Ian Poulter 50/1
Won this event in 2012 at Mission Hills and was second in 2013 on this track.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
I fact he hasn’t been worse than T13 in the last four years. Poulter always shows up for this event and is an intriguing 50/1 this week.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat 60/1
Enters off a good third place finish in Turkey last week and has six straight top sixes recently – he has quietly been playing some good golf. Aphibarnrat should feel right at home in Asia and should do well again this week.
2015 World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions Picks:
The pick this week is Ricky Fowler at 21/1 odds. He looked very good here last year and enters this year off the best season of his career – two top 5s in his last four starts.
The Sleeper is Ian Poulter at 50/1. He always shows up for this event.
