TPC Boston is a par-71 layout, stretching out to 7,242 yards – relatively short at this point of the year. There are four par 3s, three par 5s, and 11 par 4s – par 4 scoring average and ball striking stats are the ones to look at this week. As always a hot putter will help and current form also has to be a serious consideration.
So with that in mind who should we be keeping our eye on this week? Let’s take a look.
2015 Deutsche Bank Championship Favorites:
Jason Day 6/1
Could there be a new World #1 emerging? Day has won three of his last four starts – incredible and is showing no signs of slowing down. He has three top 10s at TPC Boston – a track that seems to suit his game very well. There has been a history of players going back-to-back in FedExCup playoff events and if there is any reason to think it can happen again, Day is that reason!

Jordan Spieth 15/2
Spieth is human!!!!! He missed the cut at The Barclays ending a run of seven top 10 finishes in eight starts. It may be time to start a new streak on a track that he finished T4 on in his 2013 debut. Spieth will bounce back for a good finish – guaranteed.
Rory McIlroy 15/2
Sat out last week after a 17th place finish at Whistling Straits and gets to test the ankle once again. He won this event in 2012 and was T5 last year – his course history points to another good finish this week. Rory will be a motivated guy – two other golfers have snuck into “the best golfer on the planet” conversation.
2015 Deutsche Bank Championship Contenders:
Dustin Johnson 14/1
Quietly finished T9 last week – his second straight top 10 finish.

He led the field in driving last week of course and was tops in par 4 scoring which is essential on this track. DJ finished T4 in 2009 and 2012 here and looks as though he is over the yips that killed him in the Majors this year.
Henrik Stenson 14/1
Played very well last week finishing solo second and now has three top six finishes in his last five starts – peaking just as the season is wearing down. He won here in 2013 and is certainly trending upward again- don’t be surprised if he is the last one standing Monday!
Justin Rose 16/1
Rose has been on fire – his one bad round was a 77 in the opening round last week. But credit Justin – he came back to finish T16. Rose looks poised for another breakthrough and it could come on this track where he was T16 in 2013.
Bubba Watson 20/1
Has now finished inside the top three in three of his last four starts thanks to an emerging all-around game. He’s no longer just a bomber – Bubba has it all going right now.
Zach Johnson 33/1
Has finished inside the top six in five of his last eight starts including a T4 at Plainfield – consistently good. He has three top 20s in six starts on this track which doesn’t hurt his chances either. Johnson has been in every tournament he’s teed up the last few months – this week should be no different.
2015 Deutsche Bank Championship Sleepers (50/1 or higher):
Brandt Snedeker 50/1
Sneds at 50/1? Don’t let a bad week at Plainfield fool you – Brandt has been playing pretty well.
Robert Streb 50/1
Played well in the first two rounds last week as my sleeper – maybe this is his week after a T39 at Plainfield. He was top 20 in his five prior starts after all. Streb finished T9 in his only appearance here last year and could be a factor this week – unlike last.
Webb Simpson 50/1
Simpson is a guy that plays very well on track he likes – TPC Boston is one of those courses. He won here in 2011 and has made the cut all three times he’s played here since including a T9 last year. Simpson is a dangerous guy on familiar tracks – interesting 50/1 this week!
Bill Haas 66/1
Haas may be due – he was T6 at Sedgefield a couple of weeks ago and he was T9 on this track last year – his fifth top 25 in his nine attempts here. Haas is a name that keeps creeping up for some reason – he may pay us all off some day!
2015 Deutsche Bank Championship Picks:
It’s pretty hard to stay away from the sizzling Jason Day but I am. The pick is Henrik Stenson at 14/1. The 2013 winner here has three top 6’s in his last five starts, was second last week and should be motivated for his first win this week.
The sleepers is another former winner Webb Simpson at 50/1 who is money on tracks that he loves. Simpson offers great value and an almost automatic top 20 finish with toms of upside.
