This Week’s PGA Tour Predictions!
The PGA pros head to Malaysia this week to play the 2015 CIMB Classic trying to snap the streak of two straight rookie winners on TOUR. That shouldn’t be difficult – there are ZERO rookies entered this week.

Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club will play just 6,985 yards on its pat 72 layout. Surprisingly it is tough considering its rather short layout. There are four par 5s at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club – those holes were among the top 10 most difficult set of par 5s the pros saw last year – the closing hole was one of the top 5 hardest par 5s of 2014.
Length isn’t necessarily a determining factor here, obviously but accuracy, solid dependable ball striking and an ability to score on the par 4s and par 3s is crucial – there is little chance to get ahead on the already discussed par 5s. A solid putter will help as well to nobody’s surprise.
So, with all of that in mind who should we be keeping an eye on this week?
Let’s take a look.
2015 CIMB CLASSIC Favorites:
Henrik Stenson 6/1
The biggest name in the tournament arrives in very good form – he was 2nd-2nd-T10-T2 in the FedExCup Playoffs. He was the TOUR leader in GIR and total driving last season and looks to pick up where he left off. He has never played this event but it shouldn’t matter – a player of this class will be in the mix in any event he tees it up.
Kevin Na 14/1
Enters on the heels of consecutive runner-up finishes – the Frys.com Open and Shriners Hospitals Open – the Frys came in a playoff. He finished T2 here last year. Na looks to break his string of seconditis and has top 16 finishes in his last four starts overall. Na is due – course history and current form say so!
Sergio Garcia 14/1
Garcia hasn’t exactly been stellar the last year but could be able to make some noise this week on a track he finished T2 last year and T11 in 2013. He absolutely needs a big performance this week to get back on the radar.
Hideki Matsuyama 14/1
Didn’t play last week but finished T17 at Silverado – that’s five straight top 25 finishes. He has top 25 finishes in his last two starts in this event and should do well again this week.
2015 CIMB CLASSIC Contenders:
Patrick Reed 16/1
Reed is coming off a T3 at the Hong Kong Open – when he is on, good things happen. He finished T40 here in 2013 but improved to a T26 last year. Early in the season Reed is an intriguing 16/1 – more than a few like him to break through this week.
Ryan Moore 16/1
Has won twice on this track – that obviously puts him on the radar this week. He enters off a T10 at the Frys.com a couple of weeks ago – in OK from for the three-peat.
Paul Casey 33/1
Has never played this event but his current form says that he should do well here. He has been solid all year – in a short field he looks like good value at 33/1. Casey stats line up well here – fifth in GIR, T10 in par-4 scoring and T13 in par-5 scoring in 2014-15. His last start was a T5 at the Tour Championship – an impressive result.
Gary Woodland 33/1
Has finished second in this event the last two years – something has to give! The problem – he has just one top 25 since July – a T12 at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Course History is on his side – present form isn’t.
2015 CIMB CLASSIC Sleepers (50/1 or higher):
Keegan Bradley 66/1
If Bradley can get his conventional putter under wraps then he is great value at 66/1 –in name alone.
He started to figure a few things out at the end of 2015 – a pair of top 30s in the FedEx Playoffs. He hasn’t hit the top 10 in five months but against a less-than-spectacular field could do some damage.
2015 CIMB CLASSIC Picks:
The smart pick here is the obvious one. Henrik Stenson at 6/1 is the pick this week. He is simply head and shoulders above every other entry in the field.
The sleeper – obvious! Keegan Bradley at 66/1 intrigues me this week for sure.
