Vancouver, on the second night of a back-to-back after facing the Minnesota Wild, head to Winnipeg to take on the fellow-Canadian Jets.
Winnipeg, coming off a 3-1 loss to Anaheim, will look to grab a win against the Canucks and avoid its third straight loss on Sunday.
Vancouver Canucks
It’s been an extremely disappointing year for the Vancouver Canucks, one of the NHL’s worst teams on offense and a team that isn’t too much better on the defensive end. The Canucks have just 29 wins this season and won’t be heading to the playoffs.
Vancouver ranks 29th in the NHL in goals scored, averaging just 2.29 goals per game. The team has one 20-goal scorer in Bo Horvat but that’s it. The Canucks can’t find consistency from its forwards.

Speaking of Bo Horvat, he’s been solid this year despite his team’s overall play. Horvat has 20 goals and 27 assists. However, he’s been in a bit of a slump, posting just a single assist and no goals over his last five games.
Center Markus Granlund has been another solid offensive option for the Canucks. In 69 games this season, he has 19 goals and 13 assists. Over his last five games, he has two goals and two assists.
Defensively, Vancouver has been bad as well. The team ranks 22nd in the league in goals against, giving up about 2.95 per game.
Winnipeg Jets
Sitting 5th in the Central Division, the Winnipeg Jets are fighting for a Wild Card spot but have been a very inconsistent team this season, despite having a top-10 offense.
The Jets rank 9th in the NHL in goals scored, averaging 2.97 per game. Patrik Laine has been a major reason for this success in the offensive zone.
Laine has been fantastic all season, showing what he can do in just his first year in the league. In 67 games this season, he has 34 goals and 27 assists. However, he’s slowed down over the last five games, tallying just one goal and zero assists.

Center Mark Scheifele continues to be fantastic for Winnipeg. He has 98 goals and 46 assists in his 72 games this season. Over his last five games, he has a goal and five assists.
Defense has been another story for Winnipeg. The team ranks second to last in the league in goals against, giving up 3.2 goals per game.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Vancouver is 1-5 ATS in the last six games
- Winnipeg is 3-6 SU in the last nine games
Free Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets NHL Hockey Prediction:
Winnipeg has two fantastic scorers in Patrik Laine and Mark Scheifele. Against a Vancouver team with a very mediocre defense, I expect the Jets to score quite a bit and come away with the W at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Winnipeg ATS
Winnipeg has a much better offense than the Canucks and Vancouver struggles on defense and in goal. I like Winnipeg’s chances to cover the spread on Sunday.
