Two inconsistent teams will look for the win in Minnesota Saturday night.

Tampa Bay
The Lightning are trying to find their way after losing 5 of their last 7 games, and they’ll try to do it against the Minnesota Wild. Tampa Bay has been nothing short of inconsistent this season, and it has shown in the standings.
The Lightning scored 2 goals during their 4-game losing streak, but have notched 9 goals in their last 3 games.
Ben Bishop has also been a liability between the pipes this season. He has a GAA of 2.34, and his save percentage of .917 is far below his mark last season. Victor Hedman leads the team with 11 points, and Steven Stamkos is right behind him with 10.

Tampa Bay is coming off an impressive 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres where it scored 3 goals in the first period to put the game out of reach. The questions is, can the Lightning do that for a second-straight game?
Minnesota
The Wild have done well offensively this season, but they’ve been pretty bad at the other end. Minnesota is 5th in the NHL in both goals and shooting percentage, but the team ranks 22nd in goals allowed and 23rd in penalty killing.

Goaltender Devyn Dubnyk was the spark that helped Minnesota make the postseason last year, but he’s also been shaky in net. Dubnyk’s GAA is 2.63 and his save percentage is .896. Those numbers are far worse than last year’s, and the Wild will have to score in order to bail Dubnyk out.
Fortunately, they’re playing against a team that has a difficult time scoring the puck itself.
The Wild will also be without leading scorer Zach Parise after he sustained a lower-body injury against the Nashville Predators. How big of a loss with Parise’s absence be?
The Wild still have guys like Jason Zucker and Mikko Koivu who can put the puck in the back of the net, but no doubt they will miss their leading scorer.
NHL Hockey Handicapping Trends
- The OVER is 3-7 in the last 10 games of this series.
- Wild are 7-1 as a favorite this year.
- Lightning are 0-0-2 as an underdog this year.
- Wild are 1-0 vs. Eastern Conference opponents this year.
- The last 3 games in this series have gone UNDER the total.
Free NHL Hockey Prediction: Under 5.5
Minnesota tends to score plenty of goals at home, but they will be without their leading scorer. The Wild have only scored 4 goals in their last 2 games, and the Lightning have struggled to generate consistent production. Six of the Lightning’s last 7 totals have gone under 5.5, and the OVER in this series is just 3-7 during the last 10 games.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Minnesota 3- Tampa Bay 2
The Wild continue their winning ways at home, though this one will be close.
