The Sharks have surprisingly taken control of the series as they look for a 3-1 lead in Game 4
San Jose shutout the Blues in back to back games, as their defense has completely taken this series over.
San Jose Sharks
San Jose has been a decent defensive team during the regular season and postseason. They’ve given up 2.44 goals per game, but there has been instances where they have let down.
However, the past two games have been a completely different story. The Sharks have outscored the Blues 7-0 over the past two games and have erased their 1-0 hole to take a 2-1 lead.

They now look to hold par with Game 4 at home, a place where they’ve been kind of back and forth.
With their Game 3 win, they have now won 5 straight home games this postseason. That includes the 4 they took against Nashville last series.
The Sharks have seen Martin Jones turn away 48 shots combined in both wins, but the defense has also been stellar not giving the Blues open looks.
St. Louis had just 26 shots in Game 3 and 22 in Game 4.
St. Louis Blues
The Blues offensive struggles come as a bit of a surprise here.
St. Louis has averaged nearly 3 goals per game this season, but they haven’t been able to pepper the goal like they did against Nashville really all series long.
The Blues aren’t getting much control in the offensive zone and when they do, the shot selection is rather weak, resulting in easy saves.

The good news for the Blues is that they are a good road team still and they have proven that on many occasions already. Getting off to an early lead is a huge factor here.
They need to get the mentality that they can find the back of the net. The longer the scoreless streak goes, the more hurt they get mentally.
