The San Jose Sharks travel to Calgary as a pair of lethal offenses square off for two points inside the Saddledome.
San Jose
The Sharks suffered an ugly home loss to the Vancouver Canucks Saturday night, and it kept them without two easy points in the standings. San Jose is still 7th in the West with 76 points and four points ahead of 8th-place Minnesota, so the Sharks have some breathing room. Still, they can’t take anything for granted with Colorado also in striking distance.

It’s been San Jose’s offense that has carried them this season. The Sharks are 4th in goals, shooting percentage and the power play, and it’s been the two “Joes,” Pavelski and Thornton, who have led them in scoring.
Goaltender James Reimer made his San Jose debut Saturday night after being acquired from Toronto, but it was a disastrous debut as he allowed three goals on just 25 shots in the loss.
The Sharks offense should fare extremely well against a Calgary defense that is among the NHL’s worst.
Calgary
The Flames pulled off what was arguably their biggest upset of the season Saturday when they traveled to Pittsburgh and beat the Penguins 4-2.
Calgary’s offense remains one of the best units in the league, led by Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, but the defense has been absolutely atrocious. The Flames are allowing 3.12 goals per game which ranks dead last in the NHL.
They also possess the league’s worst penalty kill, and that doesn’t bode well against San Jose’s 4th-ranked power play.

Between a potent offense and inept goaltending, the Flames have been involved in some high-scoring affairs this season. Eight of Calgary’s last 11 games finished with a total that was more than 6 goals, including five of their last six games inside the Saddledome.
