With losses in the four straight games, the Ottawa Senators are looking to finish the season with some wins before heading into the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
Ottawa will head to Boston, where the Bruins will be on the second night of a back-to-back and looking to continue their recent stretch of solid play under new head coach Bruce Cassidy.
Ottawa Senators
Coming off a fourth straight loss, the Ottawa Senators need to right the ship immediately considering there’s only 11 games left in the season for one of Canada’s teams heading to the playoffs. The Sens definitely don’t want to go into the postseason in a slump.
Ottawa’s strong point this season has been the defense. The team has allowed the 9th least goals in the NHL, giving up just 2.61 goals per game. Over the last four games though, the team has given up an average of 3.0 goals per game and lost them all.

The offense hasn’t been able to keep up with that amount of goals given up and it really hasn’t been good all year. The team ranks 19th in the league in goals scored, averaging just 2.65 goals per game. The Senators only scored more than one goal in one of those four losses.
Ottawa needs big games from guys like Mark Stone and Kyle Turris, two of the only skaters on the team with 20-plus goals and 20-plus assists. Stone doesn’t have a single goal over his last five and Turris has just one.
Boston Bruins
On the injury front for Boston, keep an eye on Patrice Bergeron. He has an undisclosed injury but is expected to suit up Monday night against the Leafs, but be paying attention to what happens during that game in case he somehow re-injures himself and can’t play against Ottawa.
Bergeron has been an important part of the Bruins this season. He has 17 goals and 31 assists, including five assists over his last five games.

The offense has been very decent for Boston this season. Averaging 2.89 goals per game, the Bruins have gotten great production from multiple players. One of those players is left wing Brad Marchand.
Marchand has 37 goals and 42 assists this season, including seven goals and four assists over his last five games. That impressive stretch includes a hat-trick against Vancouver.
David Pastrnak has also had his best season in a Boston uniform. In 64 games, he has 31 goals and 32 assists, including five goals and three assists over his last five games.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Ottawa is 6-3 ATS in the last nine games
- The Total has gone OVER in five of Boston’s last six games
Free Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins NHL Hockey Prediction:
Ottawa has had some struggles over the last five games and isn’t looking like the team it needs to be heading into the playoffs.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Bruins ML.
Against a Boston squad with a new identity, I don’t like the Senators chances. Boston gets the W at home.
