A pair of Metropolitan rivals square off as the New Jersey Devils host the New York Rangers with the NHL’s second half getting underway.

The Rangers have fared well against the Devils as of late, though they’ve been an awful road team this season.
New York
The New York Rangers begin the second half of the season 3rd in the Eastern Conference despite a woeful record away from Madison Square Garden. The Rangers are 9-12-3 on the road this season and are just 3-12 in their last 15 games away from home.
New York is a completely different team on the road in almost every facet. The Rangers have scored 20 goals in their last five home games but only 10 in their last five road games.

Still, this is a team that is only two years removed from an Eastern Conference championship, and it has the experience to make a deep run in the postseason.
Led by Derick Brassard, Mats Zuccarello and Rick Nash, the Rangers are 5th in the NHL in goals scoring 2.86 per game and rank 3rd in shooting percentage.
And with Henrik Lundqvist between the pipes, the Rangers always feel like they have a chance to win. He’s expected to get the start and comes in with a record of 23-13-4, a GAA of 2.41 and a save percentage of .921.
New Jersey
If the New Jersey Devils could actually score some goals, they’d be a top-five team in the Eastern Conference. Led by goaltender Cory Schneider, one of the most underrated goalies in the NHL, the Devils find themselves tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for 8th in the East.
Schneider is tied for 5th among NHL goalies with a .929 save percentage and tied for 3rd in GAA with a mark of 2.03.
Unfortunately for the Devils, they don’t have much going on offense, which would explain their lackluster position in the standings. While New Jersey ranks 4th in goals allowed and 8th in shots on goals allowed, the team is 29th in goals scored and dead last in shots on goal per game.
The offense has to improve if the Devils want a shot at the playoffs.

Free NHL Hockey Prediction
New Jersey played well down the All-Star stretch and grabbed some much-needed wins. Even though the Rangers have owned the Devils, they’ve struggled badly on the road this year. I’ll take New Jersey in this spot.
