The New York Islanders, winners of four of the last six including a Tuesday night victory over Detroit, will head to Montreal to take on the Canadiens.
Montreal, coming off a fantastic finish over the Rangers, will look to ride that momentum and get another much-needed win at home.
New York Islanders
The Islanders have looked like a different team since firing Jack Capuano and making Doug Weight the head coach. Since Weight took over, the Islanders are 11-4-2 and have won four of the last six games.
Sitting 5th in the Metropolitan Division, the Wild Card is still in play for the Islanders and every game counts at this point. The Islanders have had a solid offense all season, scoring 177 goals in 59 games.

Averaging 3.0 goals per game, the team can light the lamp but the defense has left a lot to be desired.
The Islanders allow 2.9 goals per game, putting the team 23rd in the NHL. New York loses games because the defense and goaltending can’t stand strong and the offense can’t keep up when playing from behind.
To no one’s surprise, captain John Tavares has had a wonderful year thus far. He has 22 goals and 28 assists, including two goals and two assists over his last five games.
Montreal Canadiens
With that win against the Rangers, Montreal sealed its first victory for newly minted head coach Claude Julien. The team has a lot of work to do going forward and has been lucky that a string of recent losses hasn’t derailed its playoff chances.
The offense has slowed down a bit recently and the team hasn’t been scoring as much. The Canadiens average about 2.82 goals per game, led by captain Max Pacioretty. Pacioretty has 28 goals and 24 assists on the year, including three goals and five assists in his last five games.
Right wing Alexander Radulov has looked solid for the Canadiens. He has 14 goals and 28 assists on the year, but is in a bit of a slump with just a single point – a goal – in his last five games.

The defense has become a strong suit for this team recently and defenseman Shea Weber has been playing very well in that department. The team ranks 9th in goals against with 155, giving up 2.58 per game.
NHL Betting Trends:
- New York is 13-5 ATS in the last 18 games
- Montreal is 2-7 SU in the last nine games
Free New York Islanders vs. Montreal Canadiens NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Islander defense isn’t very good, which means the Canadiens should be able to have a field day in the offensive zone. Get Max Pacioretty going and things will go well for Montreal. Montreal gets the W here at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: OVER 5
New York can’t stop the puck very well. Montreal should get at least four in this one. New York’s offense will add a couple as well. This will be a back and forth game with a lot of goals.
