Montreal sits atop the league in the standings with 36 points, having received a huge contribution from new acquisition, Shea Weber.
The Habs experienced a torrid start to the tune of 8-1 in September, and since have followed it up by going 9-7.
New Jersey has certainly felt the loss of star winger, Taylor Hall, when he was out of the lineup for multiple weeks.
During that span, the Devils went 4-6 and now find their record at a middling 11-7-6 with 28 total points.
New Jersey Devils
Taylor Hall was brought in to help drive the offense for a team that has had troubled scoring in recent seasons. He’s contributed with six goals and 15 points in 16 games played, while losing a couple weeks to injury as mentioned.
In the meantime, Mike Cammalleri and Travis Zajac picked up their respective paces to help off-set the loss.
Zajac now leads the team with 21 points in 25 games, while Cammalleri has produced nine goals and 17 points in his 19 games, respectively.
The team currently sits 17th in goals per game with a 2.6 mark.
The defensive group certainly took a hit when Adam Larsson was sent the other way to Edmonton in the Hall deal, but they have held up alright in front of star netminder, Cory Schneider.
The Devils currently rank 18th overall in goals against per game, with an average of 2.7 allowed. Their penalty kill has been their best attribute so far of the major team categories, sitting in 6th overall with a 84.8% efficiency rate.

Cory Schneider has seen his numbers fall as of late to SV% of .912 and 2.60 GAA, which hasn’t really been his fault but more a byproduct of the team as a whole.
Schneider is an upper-echelon NHL goalie and should improve upon his numbers to a level between what they currently sit at and where they were in his tremendous start to the year.
Montreal Canadiens
The Habs are coming off of a tough 3-2 OT loss, but still earned a point in their Tuesday night loss to the Blues.
Tomas Plekanec had a strong effort, chipping in a goal and an assist in what has otherwise been a tough start to the season for the veteran, who now sits at just nine points total.
Alex Galchenyuk leads Montreal in scoring on the year, with 23 points in 25 games played and looking like he’s taken another step in his development to being the high scoring forward that made him the 3rd overall draft pick in 2012.
The addition of Shea Weber appears to have provided some more balance amongst the defensive group and he’s been electric in his time in Montreal to date.
Weber has chipped in eight goals and 18 points in his 26-game Habs career with a plus-16 rating, which is good for the second best mark in the league.

Carey Price is the best goalie in the league/ earth, and he’s back in full form this season after being hampered by injuries in 2015-16.
Price has an incredible .942 SV% and 1.82 GAA this season while going 14-3-1 in his 18 games played.
He should be back between the pipes after being spelled back-up Al Montoya on Tuesday.

Free New Jersey Devils vs Montreal Canadiens NHL Hockey Prediction
This game features two excellent goaltenders squaring off at the Bell Centre, with the Habs holding a decided advantage in the standings and all over the ice.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under 5.5
Beating Carey Price has been tough this year and the Devils are pretty mediocre when it comes to scoring.
Every one of New Jersey’s past seven games have ended in a one goal differential, so with Schneider in the crease I expect somewhat of a goalie battle and a low scoring affair overall.
