The Los Angeles Kings look to stay red hot as they continue their road trip against an improving Calgary Flames squad on New Year’s Eve.

With 36 points, the Flames are just one point behind the Arizona Coyotes for 2nd place in the Pacific Division, and a win against the first-place Kings would help them get there.
Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Kings have never been known for lighting it up during the regular season, but that’s exactly where they find themselves as the NHL season nears its midway point. At 23-11-2, the Kings hold a commanding 11-point lead in the Pacific Division over 2nd place Arizona.
L.A. has looked like the real deal this season, and the Kings are getting it done on both ends of the ice.
[dfads params=’groups=226&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Tyler Toffoli’s 18 goals ranks 5th in the NHL, and goaltender Jonathan Quick, despite some struggles, is having a stellar year with a record of 20-9-1 to go along with three shutouts and a save percentage of .921.
The Kings have outscored their last three opponents 14-5 and are riding a three-game winning streak heading into their matchup with Calgary. L.A. also ranks 2nd in the NHL in shots on goal and goals allowed, so it’s easy to see why this team has a double-digit point lead in the division.
Calgary
The Flames got off to an atrocious start when the season began, but they’ve been playing much better hockey lately by winning seven of their last 10 games. Left winger Johnny Gaudreau’s 17 goals is 6th in the NHL, right behind L.A.’s Toffoli, and his 39 points also ranks 6th in the league.
[dfads params=’groups=235&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Despite Gaudreau’s success this season, Calgary has struggled offensively as a whole.
The Flames rank dead last on the power play and just 28th in faceoff percentage. They’ve also had a difficult time stopping the puck.
Goaltender Karri Ramo is expected to get the start between the pipes, and he comes in with a record of just 13-11-1 and has a GAA of nearly 2.7 to go along with a save percentage of .908.
Calgary also comes into this matchup with a goal differential of -21, which is tied for next-to-last in the NHL.

4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Los Angeles ML
The Flames have been playing better hockey as of late, but it’s hard to bet against the Kings in this spot. I expect a high-scoring game, but I see the Kings pulling this one out.
