The St. Louis Blues will try to change their first round fortunes, but get the daunting task of the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the NHL Playoffs.
Chicago will look to defend their title, but will try to do it as a slim underdog here against the Blues.
Chicago Blackhawks
The last time the Blackhawks were defending their Stanley Cup title they opened the first round of the NHL Playoffs against these same St. Louis Blues. They’ll look to push them out of the playoffs once again as they come in as the road team here in this series.
Chicago finished the season 5-1-2 as they always seem to get hot around playoff time. The Hawks however do enter this one off back to back losses.

When playoff time nears, it always seems like Patrick Kane steps things up a notch or two and this is such the case once again. Kane finished with a 5 game point streak where he tallied 7 goals and 5 assists. He leads a Hawks charge that scores just under 3 goals a game, but has so many weapons that can strike at any time.
Chicago will be short on the defensive end as they will be without D Duncan Keith. The star defender is serving a 6 game suspension and this will be is last of the 6.
Chicago went 21-15-4-1 on the road this regular season.
St. Louis Blues
The Blues are just trying to get out of the first round for once. They fell to Washington in the final days of the season which gave Dallas the division crown and forced the Blues to have to take on the defending champs.
St. Louis opened a 2 game lead in the last series these two teams met in back in 2014, but they then went onto lost 4 straight games to the Blackhawks to get eliminated.
The Blues will have home ice, which is a huge advantage for them. This year St. Louis finished 24-13-3-1 at home and held the opposition to just 2.34 GAA.

The Blues took the season series 3-2 with a win back on April 7th, which was also right in the middle of them winning 14 of their last 17 overall. However, that set back to the Caps was the biggest loss of the season as it pinned them here.
