Calgary has lost four out of five and is starting to slip in the Pacific Division. Currently in 4th place, the Flames need to start stringing together wins and they’ll look to do so against Montreal.
The Canadiens have lost three of four and will look to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to Buffalo.
Calgary Flames
The Flames have started 2017 with a record of 4-5-1 and are starting to slip in the Pacific Division. Calgary has to start playing better in order to ensure a Stanley Cup playoff birth in a couple of months.
Calgary will look to take the next couple of games and head into the All-Star Break on a positive note.

The defense has left a lot to be desired this season and the team has given up a lot of goals. Ranked 23rd in the league in goals against, the Flames have given up 138 on the year. Opponents average about 2.82 goals per game on the Flames.
On offense, Calgary has been pretty decent. The Flames have a few weapons that get things done on the offensive end.
Center Sean Monahan leads the team in goals with 15. He also has 15 assists for the Flames. He has a goal in each of his last five games, along with two assists over that span.
Monahan will be called upon a lot against Montreal and he’ll look to continue his goal-scoring streak and propel the Flames to victory.
Montreal Canadiens
Sitting 1st in the Atlantic Division, the Canadiens have been having a great season and are ensuring that at least one team from the North will get to the playoffs this year.
The Canadiens are in the top 10 in both offense and defense. Montreal ranks 7th in goals against and have up 121 on the season. The team gives up just 2.52 goals per game.
It also helps having one of the top goaltenders in the league in Carey Price. Price 21-9-5 this year and has posted a 2.36 goals against average.

Offensively, the Canadiens have put up 144 goals this year, putting them 6th in the league in that category. A lot of that offense has come from captain Max Pacioretty.
Pacioretty has 21 goals and 18 assists this year, including two goals and two assists over his last five games.
Left winger Paul Byron has been solid for Montreal as well. He has 13 goals and 15 assists, including a goal and two assists over his last five games.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Calgary is 2-5 ATS in the last seven games
- The Total is 3-1-1 over Montreal’s last five games
Free Calgary Flames vs. Montreal Canadiens NHL Hockey Prediction:
Montreal is a much better team defensively than the Flames. At home, I like the Canadiens to take the W against a Flames team that hasn’t been able to limit good offenses.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Montreal -1.5
Both teams are solid on offense but the edge goes to Montreal because of its defense. I like the Montreal puck line in this one.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Calgary 1 – Montreal 3
