A pair of last-place teams will square off in Winnipeg on Sunday as the Jets host the Buffalo Sabres.

Winnipeg has looked great at home this year, and the team will look to continue that solid play while the Sabres try to end their six-game skid.
Buffalo
The Buffalo Sabres find themselves in familiar territory, sitting in the cellar of the Atlantic Division with just 34 points. The Sabres have shown promise at times with rookie sensation Jack Eichel and forward Evander Kane, but they are still a rebuilding team that will continue to find their way over the next few years.
[dfads params=’groups=226&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Buffalo is in the midst of a nasty six-game losing streak and has been outscored 21-8 during that span. Ryan O’Reilly leads the Sabres with 35 points while Eichel’s 26 points rank third on the team. The Sabres are 5-8-3 against Western Conference opponents this season but they’ve struggled even more on the road, posting a record of just 1-5-1 against the West.
They face an easier opponent in the Winnipeg Jets, but the Jets have been dominant at home this year.
Winnipeg
The Jets found themselves in the postseason last year, but the NHL season is halfway over and they’re currently in last place in the Central Division. Winnipeg has struggled badly within the division with a record of 4-10-1, but the Jets have found comfort at home, especially against the Eastern Conference.
[dfads params=’groups=235&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The Jets are 6-1 in their last seven home contests and are 6-1-1 at home versus Eastern Conference opponents this year. Blake Wheeler has been Winnipeg’s best player, and his 40 points are tied for 6th-best in the NHL with Calgary’s Johnny Gaudreau. If the Jets want to start making a push in the highly-competitive Central Division, they’re going to have to win the easier games left on their schedule. This is one of them.
Connor Hellebuyck has been solid in net for Winnipeg, and he’s slated to get the start in this tilt. Hellebuyck comes in with a record of 9-4-1, a commanding GAA of 1.85 and a save percentage of .937.
