A pair of Eastern Conference foes will hook up on Friday night when the Bruins pay a visit to Brooklyn to take on the Isles. Boston is in a transition period right now and for those who have been away from the NHL this is a very different team than what you may be used to.
The Isles are out to another good start and are one of the best team in the East.

Action will get underway at 7:30 p.m. with goalies Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak manning the creases for their respective teams. This one should be a dandy.
Boston Bruins
As mentioned, this is a much different Bruins team than you may be used to. The Bruins are scoring goals in bunches this year, but are having a terrible time keeping the puck out of their own net.
This team has blown two goal leads on a number of occasions, including their most recent game with the Flyers where they carried a two goal lead into the third period only to be defeated 5-4 in OT.

The B’s have given up 26 goals already this season, and besides the winless Columbus Blue Jackets, that is the worst total in the NHL. With 22 goals scored however, the Bruins are among the league’s highest scoring teams at the moment.
Gone are the days when this team would lull you to sleep by getting an early one or two goal lead and shutting the door for the rest of the game.
Most of the reason for this is that their defense just isn’t very good, and is undermanned.
Zdeno Chara is ancient and moves about as well as a fire truck at this point in his career. Big Z’s defense partner Dennis Seidenberg is still out recovering from back surgery.
Also there’s the fact that, as I’ve been saying for years,
Tuukka Rask really isn’t a very good goalie. Much of the Finnish netminder’s stats have come from playing behind a very good defensive team. Without that luxury now, Rask is being exposed nightly and hasn’t been able to make the big saves when his team needs it.
New York Islanders
This is a really big year for the Islanders. They have been building steadily and have cemented themselves as one of the premier teams in the Eastern Conference, but playoff success has escaped them so far.
Their star player and captain John Tavares is just coming into his prime at 25 years old, Kyle Okposo is 27, Ryan Strome is just 22 and there is a host of other young talented forwards like Brock Nelson (24) Anders Lee (25) and Josh Baily (26).
This team is primed to make things happen in a big way as the core group has been together for a few years now and their defense core, though lacking a true stud number one, is very solid top to bottom.

In goal, Jaroslav Halak has been what he needs to be so far this year in his limited action as he started the year nursing an injury. In his two starts, Halak has posted two wins with a .952 SV% and 1.50 GAA with one shutout.
This team plays with confidence when Halak is in the cage and after a slow start that saw them go 0-1-1 they’ve run off four straight wins where they’ve outscored their opponents 18-8.

4* Free NHL Betting Prediction: Islanders -1.5
The Islanders’ ability to score goals and Boston’s ineptitude on the defensive side is a recipe for trouble for the Bruins.
The Isles shouldn’t have much trouble putting four on the board tonight and while the Bruins have been putting the puck in the net themselves I don’t think they can keep pace with the Isles in this one.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Islanders 4 – Bruins 2
The Bruins have a propensity for starting quick and I can see this one being 2-2 after the first. The Isles will settle in and add one in the second and a late third period, or empty net goal will seal the deal.
