Saturday night will be all about inter-conference hockey at PPG PAINTS Arena when the Anaheim Ducks square off against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Anaheim will be looking to bounce back from a 4-2 loss against the Dallas Stars while the Penguins needed an overtime period in order to skate past the Capitals 3-2.
The Penguins have been able to win 7 of the last 8 between these two when skating on home ice.
Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins started the regular season with a game on home ice in which they would receive their Stanley Cup rings from last season and then play as underdogs at home.
After getting off to a slow start, Pittsburgh was able to get the best of the Capitals in a shootout 3-2. It was just the kind of start the Penguins needed in order to start their journey of repeating as Stanley Cup champions.

The Penguins lost the faceoff battle and were outshot 41-30, but goals from both Patric Hornqvist and Evgeni Malkin were enough to take the game into a shootout where Phil Kessel was able to find the net for the deciding goal.
Marc-Andre Fleury was the winning goalie, defending the net on 39-41 shots.
Anaheim Ducks
Despite the fact that the Ducks outplayed the Stars in almost every aspect of the game, Anaheim still suffered a 4-2 loss to Dallas.
John Gibson took the net for the Ducks and although he only faced 20 shots, they were more than enough and four of them found the back of the net. Gibson is a long way off from the 2.07 GAA he had last season, which was good for second best in the NHL.

Both of Anaheim’s goals came off the stick of Andrew Cogliano, with assists from Jakob Silfverberg and Ryan Kesler. The Ducks out shot Dallas 35-20, with a crazy 17-1 advantage in the first period.
The Ducks also were able to lead the faceoff battle 37-21, they just simple couldn’t get much of anything past Antti Niemi.
NHL Hockey Handicapping Trends
- The Penguins are 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games
- Anaheim is 1-7 straight up in their last 8 games at Pittsburgh
Free Anaheim Ducks vs. Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Hockey Prediction
The Penguins will be without Crosby again on Saturday and will need another strong effort in order to skate to a 2-0 record.
Fleury is 8-3 against the Ducks in his career with 2.36 GAA, and I think that will improve on Saturday night.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins -120
The Penguins needed all of the emotion they could stir up in the season opener after the ceremony to start the game, but I don’t think they will have as hard of a time with Anaheim.
Gibson is 1-2 in his career against Pittsburgh with a 4.68 GAA.
This will be a good game for the Penguins to show they have more fire power without Crosby then they showed against Washington and I think they score enough to take the total over 5 in this one.
