While it may seem crazy to think and see, the Titans and Jaguars Thursday night affair has a lot of implications on the AFC South race.
With the Titans are 2-7 and the Jaguars at 3-6, they trail the Colts and Texans for first place, who arw just 4-5.
The Colts also have a major blow to their chances with QB Andrew Luck sidelined for quite some time. The door is literally wide open in the AFC South and with a Jacksonville win on Thursday, they could be just 1 game out of the first place.
A Titans win would get them essentially right back into the race with plenty of time to go.
How crazy is it to see a 2-7 team led by a rookie QB still considered to be right in the thick of things in terms of a division race? A win by Tennessee on Thursday would put the Titans right back in the AFC South race, which is a division where the winner has a very good chance to finish under .500.
The Titans come in off a loss to the Panthers where they had their chances, especially with the game being close at half, but QB Cam Newton proved to be way too much in the 2nd half.
With the loss, the Titans once again disappointed backers as they moved to just 3-6 ATS on the season.
The problem for the Titans this season has been the inability to take care of the football. QB Marcus Mariota turned the ball over 3 more times on Sunday, which in turn really set the table for Carolina.
Mariota finished 16 of 24 for just 185 yards as he threw one interception and fumbled twice.
Look for TE Delanie Walker to have a big day offensively on Thursday as he continues to be Mariota’s number 1 target. Jacksonville has struggled all season long defending the TE spot, so look for Walker to settle in the middle of the field on most routes.
The Jaguars have a chance to be one game out of 1st place with a home win on Thursday night.
They got a much needed come from behind victory on Sunday over the Baltimore Ravens in a game that featured plenty of late drama.
Trailing with just seconds to go, QB Blake Bortles was facemasked, which gave the Jags a chance at a 53 yard field goal with time expiring.
K Jason Myers booted it through the uprights moving the Jaguars to 3-6 and 3-0 ATS over their last 3 games.
WRs Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson continue to be extremely reliable for this Jags team, as the duo has built some solid chemistry with Bortles. Both had touchdown receptions in Sunday’s win, giving them 14 total on the season.
Look for Bortles to try and get his completion percentage up as he completed only 49 percent of his passes last game.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Titans are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game.
- Titans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Thursday games.
- Titans are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 11.
- Jaguars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
- Jaguars are 5-2 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Jaguars ATS
With the Jaguars big win Sunday and them being right in the thick of things, expect the home crowd to be rocking. Bortles should be able to pick apart a weak Titans’ secondary and find Hurns and Robinson.
