After a less than impressive first game of his career Jameis Winston’s 2nd game was much better and led led the Bucs to a win over the New Orleans Saints in the Big Easy.
Now he heads to the Lone Star State to take on a Texans team that is 0-2 and hungry for a win.
The Texans are 0-2, but both of their games have been close ones facing the Chiefs and Panthers.

The Texans have given up 6 sacks on the season, which does not bode well for them in this game facing a Tampa Bay pass rush that sacked New Orleans QB Drew Brees 4 times.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winston was 14/21 for 207 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT in the win over the Saints and he also had a rushing TD. No secret that he has to try to avoid defensive stud J.J. Watt, who already has 3 sacks after 2 games.
The Bucs’ offensive line has to give Winston time and if they do he has a solid WR corps led by Louis Murphy and Vincent Jackson.
RB Doug Martin led the Bucs with 78 rushing yards in the Saints game, but he only averaged 3.7 yards per carry, He has to take pressure off his young QB so he does not have to carry the team by himself on offense.

Even with Watt the Texans have struggled to defend the run, as their run D only ranks 26th in the league.
New England Patriots
Houston QB Ryan Mallett did pass for 244 yards with 1 TD and a rushing TD, but he only completed 27 of his 58 pass attempts.
He has a decent WR corps to work with, but the team really misses RB Adrian Foster, as last week Chris Polk rushed for only 38 yards averaging a paltry 2.7 yards per carry.
Foster returned to practice this week, but he will likely be out for this game.
Tampa Bay’s defense was much better last week than in the bad opening loss to the Tennessee Titans. They have issues up front defending the run, but without Foster in the lineup it may not hurt them.

The Tampa Bay pass defense ranks a legit 6th in the league, but they did give up 4 passing TD in the season opener before playing well last week. Their secondary has talent, but it will greatly help of the up front pass rush can get to Mallett.

The Bucs covered the spread last week and while they are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after covering the spread I am going to buck that trend.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Buccaneers 24 – Houston 20
Can’t believe I am taking the Bucs to win this road game, but I think Winston will have another good game. Houston has Watt, but also many other question marks on both sides of the ball.
