Kick off is set for 1:00 PM ET as both teams with stellar running games and terrific defenses look to make noise in the NFC postseason picture.
St. Louis Rams
Don’t look now, but the St. Louis Rams are just one game behind the Arizona Cardinals for first place in the NFC West.
Led by a solid defense and one of the NFL’s greatest rookie running backs, the Rams are winning football games the old-fashioned way, and they’re making it look easy.
A matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, themselves just one game behind the Green Bay Packers for the NFC North lead, will be a tough testament to see if the Rams truly are for real.

The Rams have been hamstrung by quarterback Nick Foles who has been awful this season, but they have Gurley in the backfield to cure their quarterback woes. St. Louis is dead last in the NFL in passing offense, and 28th in points scored.
However, the Rams are 3rd in rushing and 4th in points against. St. Louis is also coming off two-straight wins by a combined 39 points.
The Rams barely broke a sweat in either of those games and should be fully rested against a 5-2 Minnesota Vikings team that is yet to lose at home.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have to be feeling pretty confident after their last-second victory against the Bears in Chicago in Week 8.
Minnesota has played in two really tough divisional road matchups and won both of them, setting the scene for an intriguing matchup with a team that shares a very similar blueprint.

Like the Rams, the Vikings are awful throwing the ball, but terrific running it. They also have an extremely tough defense, one that has only allowed 40 points in three home games this year.
Adrian Peterson is back to his old form, and wide receiver Stephon Diggs has helped make Teddy Bridgewater’s job a little easier at quarterback.
Still, Bridgewater is on the same level as Foles in terms of production, and he’s about to face a Rams defense that has only allowed five passing touchdowns all year.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Rams are 2-4 SU in their last 7 road games.
- The total has gone UNDER in 5 of the Rams last 6 games.
- Vikings are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games.
- Vikings are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games.
- The total has gone UNDER in 6 of the Vikings last 8 games.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Rams +2.5
I’m looking at this game from a situational standpoint. The Vikings are a legitimate team and will probably make the playoffs, but they are coming off two really physical divisional road games, and I have to wonder if they’ll be able to contain the Rams who barely had to try against their last two opponents.
NFL Free Score Prediction: St. Louis 17 – Minnesota 16
Todd Gurley will continue his early dominance and put the Rams that much closer to the Arizona Cardinals as they win a nail-biter in Minnesota.
