A pair of 1-0 teams will go head to head on Sunday afternoon as AFC opponents San Diego and Cincinnati will do battle. The Chargers and Bengals both had pretty impressive wins in week one, though the Bengals might be getting more credit as they did so on the road.
This is a tough, and important game for both teams who will be in season long battles for their respective divisions, so winning against a legitimate, out of division opponent will go a long way, despite it only being week 2.

The game will kick off at 1 p.m. EDT in Cinci, so poor Charger fans on the west coast have to rise bright and early Sunday morning to catch the kickoff.
San Diego Chargers
The scoreline in the Chargers’ week one win over the Lions may not seem like it was a dominating performance at 33-28, but make no mistake, this Chargers team did what they came to do and that was dominate possession to offset the shortcomings they have on defense.
San Diego had the ball for an impressive 38 minutes compared to Detroit’s mere 22 minutes and they used every ounce of that ball possession to seal the win for themselves. Long drives that were highlighted by six third down conversions helped the Chargers hold the Lions offense on the sidelines and milk the clock as needed.
Phillip Rivers folks, fantasy football players who grabbed this guy, kudos to you for your good instincts, as Rivers threw the ball 42 times, completing 35 of those passes for 404 yards and two TDs.
A pair of interceptions stalled drives, but Laser Face has been prone to picks his whole career and when you throw the ball 42 times a game you’re bound to see a few go the wrong way.
Keenan Allen was an absolute monster and ate the Lions’ secondary alive, hauling in 15 passes for 166 yards, and although he didn’t hit the end zone, he was a catalyst in extending drives and moving his team down the field.
The Chargers’ D as mentioned isn’t very good and it’s going to take a lot of games like this for them to win. Long possessions on offense to rest the defense as they gave up four TDs to the Lions in just under 22 minutes of ball possession (five minutes of possession per TD essentially).
The bolts did manage to pick off Matt Stafford twice and they absolutely needed it as two more extended possessions might have changed the outcome of that game.

Cincinnati Bengals
Hard to find much fault in the Bengals’ comprehensive win over the lowly Raiders. The Bengals came out guns blazing, racking up a 33-0 lead after three quarters.
The Raiders struck back for 13 points in the fourth quarter but those points were a mere formality as the game was well in hand after the third.
Keep an eye on the Bengals this year as they have added a few wrinkles to their offense and seem more apt to involve their tight end Tyler Eifert, who hauled in nine passes for 104 yards and two TDs. Being able to take some focus off A.J. Green makes this offense much more dynamic.
Jeremy Hill had a less than stellar day running the ball, managing just 3.3 yards per carry for 63 yards, but he did find the end zone twice and he will be an important cog this week against a Chargers team that gave up 7 yards per carry to Detroit running back Ameer Abdullah.
If the Bengals can get Hill going early on and get into a possession game they’ll be in good shape.

Where the question lies with this team is can the offense strike quickly should they find themselves in the grips of the Chargers’ plodding approach to the game. A.J. Green is this team’s best big play man and he was made the number two receiver behind Eifert in week one.
While not concerning, it should raise some eyebrows as this team may not enjoy 32 minutes of possession as they did in week one and will need to get Green involved for some quick return strikes against San Diego.
NFL Betting Trends:
• SD are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 vs. AFC
• CIN are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 home games
• Road team is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 meetings
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: CIN -3
The Bengals defense is where this game hinges and if they can get off the field and keep Rivers and the Chargers offense from draining clock on long drives then the Cinci offense will have enough fire power to just outscore the Chargers.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Cincinnati 28 – San Diego 20
This one will go into the half 14-14, but I think the Bengals will have more staying power and putting that Chargers D on the field for longer than they were a week ago will pay off and they’ll come out with a win.
