The Doug Pederson era officially begins in Philadelphia Thursday night as the man who replaced Chip Kelly will get his first crack at the helm against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It’s also expected to be the debut of second overall pick Carson Wentz at QB for Philly.
Philadelphia Eagles
Coach Perdeson has ruled out a number of starters from last year for this game, among them are, offensive tackle Jason Peters, safety Malcolm Jenkins, linebacker Mychal Kendricks, and wide receiver Jordan Matthews.

Quarterback Carson Wentz is expected to take the bulk of the snaps in the second half, according to Pederson, who will likely start Sam Bradford for the first quarter, Chase Daniel soon to follow with Wentz seeing second half playing time.

In many preseason games, fans tend to tune out after the first half when most of the starters have hung up their helmets, but the opposite is true in Philly on Thursday as most fans will be eagerly anticipating Wentz’ first snap under centre.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
While Philly is hoping for their second overall pick to pan out, across the field there will be a first overall pick in the form of Jameis Winston, who had by all accounts a pretty solid rookie season.
Winston started all 16 games for the Bucs last year, throwing for 4,042 yards, 25 touchdowns and 15 picks.
For a rookie, and having Mike Evans as your only real target (unless you count an aging Vincent Jackson) those are some respectable numbers.

Doug Martin was back in a big way last year, breaking out for over 1,400 yards on the ground and finding pay dirt seven times (6 rush, 1 receiving).

4* Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Prediction: Eagles -3.0
As far as preseason goes, week one is hard to predict, as the starters will be limited in playing time. That being said, the Eagles are a bit deeper than Tampa and Wentz is very much in the discussion to get some starts this year.
Look for Carson to impress, though he will be in against many of Tampa’s third stringers by the time he takes the field, and the Eagles pull away in the second half.
