The Vikings take their under the radar 6-2 record into Oakland Sunday afternoon.
Minnesota has quietly finished the first half of the season at 6-2 as they finished off Sunday with their 4th straight win with a 21-18 win over the Rams.
The Raiders gave the Steelers all they could handle, but a field goal with just seconds to go led to their doom as they fell 38-35.
Winners of 4 straight, the Vikings are the least talked about top team in the NFL thus far. The Vikings now sit tied with the Packers at 6-2 for first place in the NFC North.
Minnesota did receive a blow in the 4th quarter as starting QB Teddy Bridgewater was knocked out of the game. Bridgewater was 13 of 21 for 144 yards and threw for an interception along with a rushing touchdown.
With Bridgewater going down, RB Adrian Peterson had a lot of pressure on his legs and lived up to the challenge. Peterson finished with 125 yards and a touchdown as he continued to find gaping holes in the Rams front. The star tailback used a big run to set up Blair Walsh’s game winning 40 yard field goal.
The run game has been the biggest part of the Vikings offense as they’re averaging 132.8 yards per game on the ground.
Defensively, the Vikings have stepped up all season long. Minnesota is allowing just 17.5 points against per game.
The Raiders have continued to put up many fights this season and they had a legit chance to upset the Steelers and move to 2 games over .500, but a late field goal and poor defensive play led to their dismay.
Oakland’s offense has used their youth to poise a lot of problems for opposing defenses with Derek Carr and Amari Cooper leading the way.
Carr has two straight games with 300+ yards and four touchdowns and that can be thanked in large part to Cooper and RB Latavius Murray.
Murray finished with 96 yards on 17 carries as he continues to improve with every passing week. However, he was knocked out of the game in the 4th quarter with concussion like symptoms and remains questionable for Sunday against Minnesota.
As for Cooper, he had 7 receptions for 88 yards as he continues to be a giant part of Carr’s offense. Cooper has a team high 564 yards on the season with 3 touchdowns.
