The Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals are featured on Thursday Night Football as both teams enter play at 1-2.
Miami comes in off their first win of the season while the Bengals have now dropped back to back games.
Things haven’t been pretty for Miami this year. Their offense has looked sluggish and their defense has looked about as bad as one can get.
However, they finally pieced a couple things down the stretch of Sunday’s contest against Cleveland to secure their first win of the season.
Miami blew an 11 point lead in the 2nd half and needed a Browns field goal miss as time expired to have a chance in overtime. RB Jay Ajayi capped off the contest with an 11 yard run to secure a Miami win.
The Dolphins still need to adjust a lot here heading into this contest with the Bengals.
It will start defensively.
Miami has allowed 415 yards per game (29th in the NFL). Points wise, they’ve conceded 22.3 per game, but were certainly exposed a bit by the Browns weak attack on Sunday as they were beat many times deep down field.
Expect the Dolphins to try and keep Tannehill from making careless decisions. He’s already thrown 4 interceptions on the season and has been very careless when under duress.
Look for a lot of check downs and short passes to try and get him into rhythm early.
The Bengals started the season off with a 23-22 win over the Jets, but since then its been a struggle on both sides of the ball.
Cincinnati has conceded 24 and 29 points to the Steelers and Broncos over the past two games as they’ve been burned both on the ground and through the air.
Offensively, Cincinnati has struggled to finish off drives. The Bengals average 375 yards per game, but have just 18.7 points per game.
Dalton has thrown for 938 yards on the season, but has just 2 touchdowns to 2 interceptions. He struggled all afternoon long against a very good Broncos defense, logging 206 yards and an interception.
Going up against this Dolphins defense is exactly what Dalton needs for a bounce back.
Miami has been horrible when it comes to defending the pass and AJ Green should have plenty of chances deep down field here in this one.
