After a terrible start to the season the Chiefs have really turned things around, big time, as they have won 7 in a row and back in the playoff picture.
They are a 7.5-point road favorite facing the Ravens, who have been a major disappointment this season.
Baltimore was crushed in their last game, at home no less, and they will finish the season under .500.
In their last games the Chiefs beat the San Diego Chargers 10-3 and the Ravens lost to the Seattle Seahawks 35-6.
On the season the Ravens are 2-4 at home and the Chiefs are 4-3 on the road.
Kansas City Chiefs
In a soggy home field last week the Chiefs’ offense struggled, but their D bailed them out and held the Chargers on a goal line stand late in the game. Alex Smith has been solid in the KC winning streak and his main target is Jeremy Maclin.
The Chiefs did rush for 150 yards last week and Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware have been getting it done since Jamaal Charles was lost for the season.
Not only have the Chiefs won 7 in a row, but they have covered the spread in 6 of those games.
The Ravens’ secondary was torched last week at home in the bad loss to the Seahawks giving up 5 TD in the air. Overall, the Baltimore defense ranks 21st against the pass and 11th against the run.
The Ravens have been ravaged by injuries this season with Steve Smith Sr., Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett all out and even backup QB Matt Schaub is injured.
The Ravens recently signed Houston castoff Ryan Mallett and with Jimmy Clausen struggling last week he may get the start right away. Baltimore does not have a very good WR corps and while KC has a solid pass rush their pass defense ranks in the middle of the pack (15th).
Where Kansas City has excelled in the 2nd half of the season is defending the run, as they rank 7th in that category. They will face a Baltimore rushing offense that was held to 28 yards in the loss to Seattle.
RB Javorius Allen must play well for the Ravens to pull off the upset, but for the season he is only averaging 3.8 yards per carry.
One more key for this game is the pass rush of the Ravens, as they have a good pass rush with the likes of Elvis Dumervil (6 sacks), C.J. Mosley (3) and Daryl Smith (t3) and will face a Kansas City offensive line that has surrendered the 4th most sacks in the league.
