The Colts are in a tough spot heading into week three. I am sure that in their minds it was never conceived that after playing in the AFC title game a year ago they would start the season 0-2.
They are in a big hole right now as they approach their first division game.
Kick off is set for 1:00 PM ET with Tennessee looking to prove that now it is their turn to ride their quarterback to a major improvement.
The Colts have not just lost their first two games but they have looked bad doing so.
The worst part is that the questioned “improvements” they made to their offense have not yielded much and their defense is as suspect as expected.
Now before we burn the team to the ground it could simply be a matter of Andrew Luck having a couple of bad games back to back. He is human after all and has proven to be pretty good in his young career.
Still the Colts need to show that they have not slipped too far by reasserting their dominance over their foes in the division. That as much as anything else has secured them a playoff spot the last three seasons.
If the Colts can get this win and do it in impressive fashion it will quiet a lot of folks and the Jets and Bills just might be good teams this season.
If not things are going to get very uncomfortable for a while in Indy.
Losing at Cleveland is never a good thing but overall the Titans have to be very pleased with their start, going 1-1 on the road.
Win or lose it was impressive to see how quickly Marcus Mariota has adjusted to the NFL, so far.
I believe his debut was the best of any quarterback, ever, and his G2 performance certainly showed that he might be more ready than most thoughts.
Game two also showed that the defense of the Titans is anything but great and I think they want to have more of a presence on the ground than Dexter McCluskey can provide.
Still they would probably be 2-0 if they hadn’t lost three funbles.
To be successful you have to win division games so any real improvement will show on Sunday. We will all be watching.
