The balance of power in the AFC South is on the line this Sunday as the Houston Texans travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts.
Along with the Tennessee Titans, these teams are in a three-way tie atop the division, and a spot in the playoffs could be on the line Sunday.
After leading the AFC South all year and looking like a sure-fire playoff team, the Houston Texans have fallen on hard times over the last few weeks. They have lost three games in a row, including a 21-13 loss at Green Bay last Sunday.
On the other hand, the Colts have improved greatly over the last few weeks. They have won three of their last four, including an absolute beatdown of the New York Jets on Sunday night.

They completely embarrassed the Jets on their home field, winning 41-10.
Houston Texans
The Texans have never looked great at any point this year, but they had certainly looked like the best team in the AFC South until recently.
They have dropped three straight coming into this one and could lose any chance at the playoffs if it becomes four.
The offense has been bad all year– the most they have scored is 26 points this season, and that took overtime. However, the defense has also started showing some weakness lately as well.

Offensively, the Texans rank 28th in the NFL in both scoring (17.2 points per game) and total offense (316.1 yards per game). On the other side of the ball, they allow only 316.1 yards per game, which is 6th best in the NFL.
Houston is the 5th best team against the pass, allowing only 208.4 yards through the air per contest. They also hold teams to 21.4 points per game which is 13th.
Quarterback Brock Osweiler has been disappointing, to say the least. Osweiler has thrown for 2,509 yards and 14 touchdowns, but he has also thrown 13 interceptions.
Lamar Miller leads the Texans on the ground with 903 yards and four scores.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have been up and down all year, but they seem to have figured some things out over the last few weeks. Over the last four games, their only loss came to the red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers on November 24th.
Indianapolis demolished the New York Jets last week, but that probably says more about the Jets than it does the Colts.
However bad the opposition, Andrew Luck was great in the game and their defense looked better than they have all year.

Indy ranks 7th in the NFL in scoring offense with 25.9 points per game. They are 14th in total offense, racking up 358.1 yards per contest and 11th in passing with 259.1 yards through the air.
However, they are just plain bad defensively. They rank 28th in the league in total defense, allowing 382.9 yards per game.
They allow 25.9 points per game, which ranks them 25th in scoring defense.
Andrew Luck has thrown for 3,1505 yards and 23 touchdowns to only eight interceptions. The ageless Frank Gore leads the Colts in rushing with 749 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Colts are 13-1 SU in last 14 home games against Houston
- Texans are 2-5-1 ATS in last 7 games
- Texans are 1-5 ATS in last 6 road games
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Colts -6.0
One team is heading in one direction, the other team is heading in the opposite direction.
Houston has no offense to speak of, and the
Colts defense has improved over the last two weeks. The Texans do have a solid defense, but Indy can put up points against just about anyone.
The Colts defense is pretty bad, but they will not face much of a test with Osweiler and the Texans.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Houston 17 – Indianapolis 24
The AFC South could hang in the balance, so both teams will definitely want this game. The Colts have a better ability to put points on the board; they are the hotter team; and they have home field advantage. Colts win a low-scoring battle.
