Two teams with losing records in 2014 clash in their season openers when the Carolina Panthers travel to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday afternoon.
Jacksonville finished 3-13 last season, but may have found their future in QB Blake Bortles.
As for the Panthers, even with a losing record, they still managed to beat the Cardinals in an NFC Wild Card clash, but eventually lost to Seattle in the following round.

Both teams are young and feature two QBs that have a chance to make a real impact throughout their careers. Cam Newton has been around long enough that he’s already made his name, but with him being so young, he still has a chance to make a legacy for himself.
Blake Bortles will be in his 2nd year and made such an impact even on a 3-13 team.
Kick off is set for 1:00 PM on CBS.
Carolina Panthers
Normally a 7-8-1 record wouldn’t be anything to write home about. However, a playoff appearance and a Wild Card Game win was added to the Panthers resume in 2014.
Still an early exit was put upon them as they dropped the Conference Semi Final to Seattle 31-17. Still, the Panthers have some solid momentum to build off as they look for another postseason appearance here in 2015.

Carolina’s offense’s inconsistencies was the main problem for them in 2014. They failed to consistently put up points as they averaged only 21.2 (19th).
QB Cam Newton will have a thin receiving core this season though as his main targets will be Corey Brown and Ted Ginn Jr, both out of Ohio State. The duo had the door wide open for them following the Kelvin Benjamin injury in camp.
Rookie Devin Funchess, ironically out of Michigan, will also get a lot of playing time out wide with the Ohio State duo.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville is still one of the youngest teams in the league, there is no question about that. However, they have build a solid foundation, especially offensively that will give them a solid future to look forward too.
Trying to get these guys all on the same page in 2015 is the main goal. Developing these young guns will be a major key for the Jags future.

At QB, the Jags may have found something in Blake Bortles. In 2014, Bortles threw for 2908 yards, but 11 touchdowns to 17 interceptions was his major downfall he must improve on.
Other playmakers to note will be Denard Robinson and TJ Yeldon. Robinson shined in his rookie campaign and will have some split reps with Yeldon in the backfield. Both RBs have the ability to get in the open field and break free.
