The first Monday Night Football game of the 2015 NFL season features a clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons.
Both teams missed the post season a year ago, though the Eagles at 10-6 would have walked away with the NFC South where the Falcons reside. Atlanta stumbled to a 6-10 record a year ago, and in one of the worst divisions in football should be pushing to get back to the post season.

The game kicks off at 7:10 p.m. EDT at the Georgia Dome where the Falcons used to be nearly unbeatable, but that has changed in recent years, and they were just 3-5 at home last year.
Philadelphia Eagles
Once again, Chip Kelly will field what looks like a brand new team from the year previous.
The mad scientist was at it again this offseason, shipping out the likes of LeSean McCoy and Jeremy Maclin, along with QB Nick Foles.
Who will make plays for this team now? Well Darren Sproles will be a big X-factor in the offense, and Kelly has shown that he will play Sproles in a number of spots on offense including slot receiver.
Last year’s leading rusher DeMarco Murray has joined the fold and will be the primary back, but with Sproles and Ryan Matthews in the wings, this team will have a dynamic and varied ground attack.
Through the air this is Jordan Matthews’ time to shine as the Eagles don’t really have a true number one receiver but rather a committee.
Riley Cooper is in the mix, as is rookie Nelson Agholor and Josh Huff. Zach Ertz looks primed to become an important cog in this offense catching passes out of tight end for new QB Sam Bradford.
The defense is still a major question mark, specifically the secondary.
Philly added Byron Maxwell from the Seahawks, but there are still some holes to plug. Linebackers could be a very strong point if they stay healthy.
A group that will feature Kiko Alonso, DeMeco Ryans and Mychael Kendricks is a very solid run stopping group.

If Chip Kelly has proven anything so far in the NFL, it’s that it doesn’t seem to matter who is on the field as he practices scheme over personnel. This team will still play very fast and will score points in bunches with their uptempo offense.
It’s really going to come down though, to whether their defense can get off the field quickly to let that offense operate.
Atlanta Falcons
Last year was an abomination for the Falcons once again. It’s hard to imagine how a team that is seemingly loaded with talent on offense can struggle so badly. Part of the reason last year was their inability to beat teams outside of the incredibly weak NFC South.
The Falcons racked up a solid 5-1 record against the division, but went 1-9 against the rest of the NFL.
It’s been said for forever and a day that you have to win your division games to be a playoff team, but in the fine print it also says “oh by the way, you have to beat a few other teams while you’re at it.”
Matt Ryan lines up at QB once again for the Falcons and has superstar Julio Jones at his disposal. An aging Roddy White is still in the mix as well though his role has diminished significantly since Jones’ arrival.
Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman will likely split running duties on this team though Coleman appears to be the favourite to start and carry the load heading into the team’s opening week.
First round pick Vic Beasley Jr. is being tasked with reviving the Falcons’ pass rush this year and rookie corner Jalen Collins may also factor in as an impact player opposite Desmond Trufant at the team’s corner positions on defense.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: OVER 55
These two teams haven’t met since 2012 and they’re both very different looking teams since the last time they played, a 30-17 Falcons victory in Philly.
High scoring seems like a guarantee in this one as neither team boasts a potent defense and the Eagles’ secondary will be in tough finding someone to keep Jones in check. The highest point projection of week one seems destined to go over
NFL Free Score Prediction: Philadelphia 34 – Atlanta 28
The Eagles come out like a house on fire and build up a big early lead, but the Falcons will battle their way back as Ryan will be forced to air the ball out over and over against a pretty weak secondary.
