This season, that number will be zero.
Even so, there’s plenty of talent ready to suit up in Week 1 on offense, and the defense, while still not close to the high level the franchise has come to be known for, has a lot of maturing young talent and may finally be ready to do what little the offense asks of it.
2016 Steelers Roster Changes
Heath Miller was a staple of the Steelers’ offense for a lot of years, and his absence from the team will be felt, but from a strictly receiving perspective, he brings more explosiveness to the tight end position than the team’s had for some time.
No longer stuck behind Antonio Gates in San Diego, Green’s in position for his best year as a pro, assuming he’s past an ankle injury that required offseason surgery.

The loss of starting left tackle Kelvin Beachum will hurt a lot, and the departures of cornerback Antwon Blake and nose tackle Steve McLendon aren’t great news either.
Expecting to have to defend the pass in some high-scoring games, cornerback Artie Bruns and safety Sean Davis were added in the first and second rounds of the draft, respectively.
2016 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions: Offense
The Steelers’ offense is so deep and talented, but just can’t stay out of its own way.
Le’Veon Bell will miss the first four games of the season with another drug suspension, and Martavis Bryant will miss the entire season with a suspension of his own.

DeAngelo Williams has proven he can step in for Bell and provide strong production, and there’s hope that Markus Wheaton and Sammie Coates can make plays in Bryant’s absence.
If Green can quickly develop a rapport with Ben Roethlisberger, he can be a major contributor as well.
With Antonio Brown poised to make fantasy football owners across the country very happy, the potential is certainly there for this group to be one of the highest scoring offenses in league history.
2016 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions: Defense
The Steelers are a franchise that has established itself as a home for great linebackers, and this year’s team can trot out four first round picks at the position.
The defense won’t bring back memories of the Steel Curtain, but there’s enough talent in the unit that it can do enough to keep up with its high-scoring offense.
The secondary remains a concern after allowing 4,350 passing yards – third-most in the NFL. If the unit falters, it will be the secondary that’s to blame.
One big area to focus on is outside linebacker, where former first-round picks Jarvis Jones and Bud Dupree could cover up some of those deficiencies in the secondary if they’re able to get at the quarterback.

The two former SEC standouts have what it takes to form an elite tandem.
2016 Pittsburgh Steelers Analysis:
Last season with Brown, Bell, and Williams all hurt, the Steelers led the eventual Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos 13-12 with 10 minutes to play in their divisional playoff game.
That is when sophomore back Fitzgerald Toussaint fumbled the ball away, leading to a 13-play Broncos touchdown drive to clinch the game for Denver.
If the team’s able to get 12 games out of Bell and 16 out of Roethlisberger, the Steelers can be as good as any team in football. An AFC North crown and an 11-12 win season is very much within reach for this Super Bowl contender.
