2016-2017 Bengals Preview & NFL Future Lines
Looking for 2016 Cincinnati Bengals Predictions? We’ve got your back. The Cincinnati Bengals can no longer be judged by their performance during the regular season. That’s just not an area they have anything left to accomplish in. In January of 2015, the team lost its fourth straight opening-round playoff game – an NFL record. In January of 2016, they lost in the opening round again.

That streak coincides with Andy Dalton’s arrival in Ohio.
To Dalton’s credit, he was hurt last season and missed that playoff game, and this is a problem that’s haunted Marvin Lewis and the Bengals before then – seven years ago Carson Palmer quarterbacked the Bengals to an opening-round playoff loss.
Is this the season the team’s able to finally break through?
2016 Cincinnati Bengals Roster Changes
The Bengals seem oddly unfazed after watching two of their top three receivers walk in the offseason in Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu, but the team signed Brandon LaFell and added Tyler Boyd through the draft, and a larger role for A.J. Green wouldn’t hurt anyone.
The team lost right tackled Andre Smith, but that was expected.

Safety Reggie Nelson had one of his best seasons in Cincinnati and left for greener pastures.
Cornerback William Jackson is at the head of a strong draft class, and the addition of veteran Karlos Dansby should help keep their young linebackers on track.
2016 Cincinnati Bengals Predictions: Offense
In four games without Dalton, the Bengals went 2-2, losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos by three points in overtime, and losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in ridiculous fashion in the playoffs.
If Dalton can pick up where he left off – he was an MVP candidate when he got hurt – the Bengals will be a tough out on a weekly basis.
The loss of offensive coordinator Hue Jackson and wide receivers No. 2 and 3, coupled with Tyler Eifert likely to miss some time due to injury to start the season, will mean some early season adjustments will be necessary.

However there’s still plenty of talent in town to overcome those issues.
The running tandem of Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill each had down years last season. It seems like a bounce back is in order for each, and that’s a scary proposition for opposing teams.
2016 Cincinnati Bengals Predictions: Defense
The Bengals’ offense got all the headlines a year ago, but the defense is a group that no opponent is comfortable facing. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict is the heart and soul of the team, but staying on the field has been an issue.
He’s saying all the right things in the offseason about adjusting to the changing game. That’s easy to say but difficult to do.
Geno Atkins doesn’t get enough credit as a disruptive force up front.
If Jackson – the first-round pick out of Houston – and 2014 first-round pick Darqueze Dennard can contribute to a secondary that lost some pieces – but does remain largely intact considering the number of contracts that expired during the summer.

In my opinion it will be tough to catch up to the many leads the Bengals are sure to build.
2016 Cincinnati Bengals Analysis:
Bashing the Bengals for last year’s playoff exit is unfair. They played without Dalton.
They led that game 16-15 with 1:36 before some shenanigans involving Burfict, an intercepted pass, a Hill fumble, Ben Roethlisberger returning, Joey Porter, and a flag or two led to the team imploding.
They can’t afford to implode again. There’s going to come a time when management decides the Marvin Lewis experiment has had long enough to play out, and that Dalton isn’t the guy to get the franchise back to the Super Bowl.
The Bengals will again be a force in the AFC, but their division is improved, and wins will be harder to come by.
Even so, 11 or 12 wins seem to be within reach for a talented and well-coached squad.
