The Chicago Bulls have turned back into one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference under new head coach Fred Hoiberg, doing things a little differently than they did under Tom Thibodeau, putting an emphasis on scoring the basketball, and playing their game at a faster pace.
However, the Bulls are coming off one of their worst performances of the season, but can pick up a seventh win in their last eight games when they host the Washington Wizards on Monday evening.
Chicago’s loss came by a score of 120-105 to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.
The Wizards have asked more of John Wall of late because of some injury issues, and he’s responded in a big way, earning the Eastern Conference player of the month award for December.
He put up 24 points and 10 assists in Saturday’s 105-99 win over the Orlando Magic.
For Wall, Saturday’s performance was his 10th double-double in his last 12 games, but he turned the ball over seven times in the contest. He’ll be called on to lead the team’s scoring effort for a while longer with shooting guard Bradley Beal still a week or two away from returning to the court as he deals with a stress fracture.
The Bulls allowed the Hawks to scored 64 points in the first half of Saturday’s matchup, including 34 points in the second quarter. The loss dropped the Bulls’ road record to 6-8.
Now the team will be asked to play 12 of 15 away from the United Center following this matchup.
The Bulls’ offensive efforts have helped the team real off some wins, but their defensive identity is still very much rooted in the reputations and skills of the players on the roster, and that begins with former defensive player of the year Joakim Noah, who may return Monday after missing the last nine games.
NBA Betting Trends:

- The under is 5-2 in the Wizards’ last seven games overall.
Free NBA Prediction:
The Bulls have upped their offensive tempo under Coach Hoiberg, but they still know how to keep their opposition from putting up too many points. The Wizards also aren’t in a position to light up the scoreboard with their current injury situation.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Under 207.5
The Wizards have had trouble scoring the basketball of late, largely because of their lack of scoring options, and facing a Bulls team that still has some strong defensive players will make for a long night for them.
The Bulls will be happy to build a margin and get out of town.
