The Pelicans are back to their old problems as the injuries have piled up once again for them as they look to avoid losing back to back games.
Sacramento
DeMarcus Cousins is making a very strong case for an MVP at seasons end.
Cousins has been the most unstoppable playing in the month of January and has led a team that was expected to be in the bottom tier to playoff contention. The Kings currently sit tied for the 8th spot in the West as they look to separate themselves from Portland with a win here.

Sacramento had rattled off 5 in a row, but fell in double overtime to a hot shooting Charlotte team and then showed a lot fatigue with a loss to the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
Cousins has averaged 34.4 points per game this month and has put up performances of 48 points and 56 points. He does come in off a poor performance as he finished with just 17 points and had 4 field goals against Portland.
New Orleans
The Pelicans looked like they were finally getting back on track. New Orleans has gotten back to just 3.5 games within a playoff spot, but after falling 112-111 to Houston, they lost more than just the game.
Anthony Davis, who has missed time this season with injuries was once again injured in the loss. Davis got an elbow to the head and left the game with a concussion. Davis has yet to pass concussion protocol which could lead to him missing this game.
Prior to the loss, Davis had led the Pelicans to 5 of 6 wins and was averaging 26 points per game.
Life without Davis has been tough on the Pelicans. There was stretch in November where he missed 5 straight games or at least parts of the game and the Pelicans lost in all 5. With them putting themselves in a giant hole already standings wise, they cannot afford another losing streak.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Kings are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games.
- Kings are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss.
- Kings are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss.
- Pelicans are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss.
- Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
- Pelicans are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
Free NBA Prediction:
The Pelicans are a different team without Davis obviously. They just don’t have enough firepower to stay in games offensively without him.
Should he play, they hold a major advantage against the Kings. However, if he doesn’t, look for Cousins to really control the paint once again and bounce back in a big way.
