Miami continues to put pressure on the 3rd seeded Celtics while the Knicks are likely too far out of it as these two teams meet inside MSG on Sunday night.
Miami has overcome many injuries and are now just 1.0 game behind Boston.
As for the Knicks, their struggles continue as they sit 6.5 out and have a lot of teams to jump. While there still is time, the amount of teams, along with the struggles may be too much to overcome.
Miami has been playing without Chris Bosh and a not 100% Dwayne Wade, but this team continues to overcome and play well.
After winning 3 straight, the Heat nearly pulled off the upset of the Warriors, but a late clear path foul did them in as they fell by 6. Still, Miami showed a lot of fight behind Wade and the biggest producer lately, Luol Deng.
With Bosh down, Deng has really stepped up and produced in his place. Deng turned in 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the loss, as he continues to relish in his new role.
With the injuries, the Heat got good news as they are the likely landing spot for Joe Johnson, who just got waved. Johnson will provide height, length, and another shooter to a team that needs it. With so many questions about Bosh, Johnson and Deng will certainly be asked to play a giant role going down the stretch.
The Knicks sit in 12th in the East, 6.5 off the pace of the 8th seeded Bulls. This team has been way too inconsistent this season and that has led to a rocky month.
They do however come in on a bit of a high after knocking off the Magic 108-95 on Friday night. Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis both had solid nights as the two scored 19 and 18 points. Melo added 11 rebounds, while Porzingis grabbed 6. All 5 starters scored in double figures.
The key for the Knicks will be finding that starting 5 consistency down the stretch. They’ll need to put together a solid winning streak if they hope to get back into it and they do have the talent to do so. Robin Lopez and Arron Affalo have both showed signs of playing well and they’ll need to find that groove.
New York took the last meeting 98-90 on the road back on 1/6.

Free Miami Heat vs. N.Y. Knicks NBA Prediction:
The Heat’s attitude coming into this one will depend on their game Saturday.
Miami will be in Boston on Saturday, with a chance to tie them for the 3rd seed with a win.
This has the feeling of a bit of a letdown spot either way, so look for the Knicks to expose that here.
