The Hornets have dropped 2 straight games while the Lakers are eyeing another double digit losing streak as they’ve dropped 9 straight games.
Charlotte
The Hornets have the benefit of being in a weak Eastern Conference, but even so, they are struggling to get into the playoff picture.
Charlotte will enter this one in 10th place, 2.5 games behind the 8 seed. After rattling off 3 straight wins, the Hornets have dropped 2 straight games to Utah and Portland, both on the road.

The offense has completely disappeared during this 2 game losing streak as they put up just 73 points against Utah and 91 against Portland. It was Marvin Williams who surprisingly paced the Hornets in the loss to Portland as he put up 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Kemba Walker who’s had a solid month of January finished with 14 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Walker’s solid month has propelled him to now 20.3 points per game to go along with 5.0 assists and 4.2 rebounds.
Back on 12/28, the Hornets handled the Lakers 108-98.
Los Angeles
Los Angeles has been horrid not just this month, but all season long really.
They look to put an end to this 9 game losing streak as they have been close just 1 time during this losing run. A 92-90 loss to Dallas was as close as they’ve gotten, with every other game being at least double digits.
With the all star break nearing, there has been rumors flying around as the Lakers are willing and ready to deal all their veterans. Roy Hibbert and Brandon Bass have both had their name come up multiple times as they are under one year deals and will not be back next season.
Still, the Lakers have a youthful group who takes every game seriously, making this losing streak extremely frustrating.
Look for Julius Randle to try and build off his success as he finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the loss to the Clippers. Randle did have 6 turnovers to his credit though.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Hornets are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 vs. Western Conference.
- Hornets are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games.
- Hornets are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Pacific.
- Lakers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference.
- Lakers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. NBA Southeast.
- Lakers are 12-27-1 ATS in their last 40 games playing on 1 days rest.
Free NBA Prediction:
This is actually a better matchup for the Lakers here. They have the guards to keep up with Walker and actually have the Hornets in height with Hibbert.
The key will be how the rookies Randle and Russell play. They’ve been so inconsistent, you just never know what you’ll get out of them every night.
