The Hawks had the best record in the Eastern Conference while the Knicks only had 17 wins. However, Atlanta lost their opener while New York was impressive in their opening night win.
The Hawks have won 3 of their 4 games facing the Knicks.

In their season openers the Knicks beat the Milwaukee Bucks 122-97 and the Hawks lost to the Detroit Pistons 106-94.
Atlanta Hawks
This is the Hawks first road game of the season and last season they were 25-16 away from Atlanta.
The Hawks were cold beyond the 3-point arc in their loss to the Pistons and they were outrebounded. Kyle Korver was the best 3-point shooter in the league last season and he was 1-5 beyond the arc in the Detroit loss.
Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson had pretty good openers, but the guards struggled mainly Jeff Teague, who did go for 18 points, but on 7/16 shooting.
The Hawks did play good defense facing the Pistons holding them to a FG% of only 38.5% shooting, but they allowed them to shoot 41.4 (12/29) from 3-point range and they gave up 23 offensive boards.
They have to play better on the glass tonight facing a New York team that grabbed 19 offensive boards in their season opener.

Not only does Atlanta have to play better on the boards, but their inside D will be key since New York scored 50 points in the paint in the win over the Bucks.
New York Knicks
Is there hope for the Knicks this season? They looked impressive in the Bucks game shooting over 45% from the field and they held Milwaukee to 34.9% shooting.
I mean they blew out Milwaukee and Carmelo Anthony struggled in the game going for 11 points on 4/16 shooting.
Reserve Derrick Williams went for 24 points and overall the bench was huge for the Milwaukee game going for 73 points.
Rookie Kristaps Porzingis had 16 points and while he struggled with his shot he got to the charity stripe 12 times and he grabbed 5 boards.
The Knicks had good ball movement and got 19 fast break points in their opener and the Hawks, who looked sluggish in their opener, has to get back on defense and slow the pace of the game down.
They are a solid half court team that has to get games from their main guys of Millsap, Teague, and Jefferson.
