Denny Hamlin was the first driver to lay claim to one of the spots in the next round of the Chase with a victory last Sunday at Chicago.
Carl Edwards finished second in that race followed by Kurt Busch in third. Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth were next on the list to round-out the Top 5 in this race.

The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire based on betting odds provided by Top Bet.
NASCAR Sylvania 300 Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)
I am looking for lightning to strike twice this Sunday at New Hampshire with Kyle Busch as my top favorite at +500 betting odds to win this race.
He has raced a shortened season due to an earlier injury, but he has made the most of the 16 point races he has run with four previous victories.
The most amazing thing is that the No. 18 car posted these victories in a span of just five events. Busch had a great run last week at Chicago in which he led that race for 121 laps before finishing ninth.

The real value in these odds other than current form is the fact that one of his four wins during that incredible run came on this track.
NASCAR Sylvania 300 Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)
Kurt Busch led the race at Chicago for 37 laps before taking third, so I decided to keep it in the family this week by going with his +1200 odds as my top contender to win this time around.
The No. 41 car has posted two victories this season and this team has been listed as one of the top favorites to win in quite a few races this year. The reason for the longer odds this week is a less than stellar track record at New Hampshire.
Busch’s average finishing position here is 15.6, but he does have three victories at Loudon earlier in his racing career.
NASCAR Sylvania 300 Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)
This may be a pure sentimental pick, but I am going with Jeff Gordon at +2000 betting odds as my top longshot this week.
I have been waiting for one of NASCAR’s most successful drivers to get in gear in his final season of racing fulltime in the Sprint Cup series, but all the No. 24 car could muster through its first 27 point races is three Top 5 finishes.
Last week this team finished 14th and it is suddenly in serious danger of seeing any possible title hopes coming to an end.
Gordon has not really lit things up at this track over the course of his storied career, but I guarantee that his motivation level to get that first checkered flag remains sky high.
